A medical emergency came up in my girlfriend’s family on the morning of September 19, so we had to cancel our reservation for September 19-21. I’ve been a Choice Privileges member since 2013. The front desk told me cancellations weren’t allowed within 48 hours of arrival, that I’d be charged the first night’s room and tax as a No Show, and that we’d need a separate new reservation if we still came later. Choice Hotels Customer Support called the property for us, but nothing changed. This hotel simply didn’t care about the emergency. I’m a retired hotel General Manager with 22 years in the industry, and none of my properties would have made that call in these circumstances.

They kept my $100 incidental deposit instead of returning it. And there’s no late checkout, you have to be out exactly at 11 or they charge you. This is the worst hotel I’ve stayed at. Don’t waste your time here, go down the road to the La Quinta or Super 8.

Selena, the manager, was courteous and helpful. She got my phone working and answered all my questions. The Sleep Inn in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was a wonderful value, with a lovely pool, a great breakfast spread, a lounge near the entrance, and staff on hand 24/7. I felt safe and the location was convenient. Thank you.

I couldn’t even check in for my reservation. The front desk staff were extremely rude and unprofessional, and after they refused to honor my paid booking, they also wouldn’t refund me. I had to find a room 15 miles away at the last minute so my daughter’s birthday weekend wouldn’t be ruined. Later I called to ask for a manager, gave her my name, and she hung up. I’ve been a Choice Hotels member for years and travel often for work. This location isn’t up to Choice’s standard. They told me, “We're privately owned, we dont answer to Choice Hotels corporate offices, we don't care what you did with them.” I hope something changes. This was the worst customer service experience I’ve had at any business.
