Life House, Nantucket

The room was nice, but it didn’t justify the high August rate for the quality of the hotel or service. As far as we could tell, only one person was managing the property, and no one answered whenever we called. There were basically no amenities or restaurant. When we booked, Life House seemed to show a bar and maybe a restaurant, but that photo was actually from its sister property, Faraway Hotel, which is about a ten-minute walk away. Faraway’s amenities weren’t really accessible to us. Life House is about a 15-minute walk from the ferry, a decent location, but not central enough for the price. At that rate in August, I’d look at nearby options with better service and amenities and a more central location.

Allison, the manager, was incredibly kind and accommodating. She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, and my family had a wonderful stay at Life House. The location is just the right distance from town. We can’t wait to return!

Alison was amazing, and we’d come back just to have her as our host again. We loved the lemonade and cookies in the lobby each afternoon too. The location gave us a quiet, relaxing place just outside downtown, but it was still only a 4-5 minute walk back into town. We had a wonderful stay and would love to come back. Highly recommend!

We were told management had recently changed to Lark Hotels in 2025. Allison was an incredibly friendly host. After a storm caused cancellations, she upgraded our room without us even asking. She gave us lots of recommendations, showed us around the property, which they had just prepared for summer and was in perfect condition, and told us about plans for future guest experiences. It felt like a real B&B home, as so many places on Nantucket do. The location is great, about a five-minute walk into town, and Steps / Jetties beach is also walkable. Everything was clean and attractive, the staff were extremely friendly, and we hope to return. Thanks, Allison & team!
