Ships Inn

The Ships Inn made for a wonderful Labor Day weekend. The rooms felt sweet and comfortable, and the bartender was the best on the island. We had the tuna special, filet mignon, and halibut at dinner, all cooked perfectly. Breakfast the next morning was just right too. We loved it and highly recommend it.

My daughter’s gluten-free dinner worked out perfectly, and we never felt hurried, even though the dining area is a bit small and close together. We had an intimate table setting and a lovely Rose from Aix with dinner. I ordered the mixed roasted mushroom starter, grilled swordfish, and a chocolate souffle for dessert, which was beautifully made. We had a delightful dinner at the Ship's Inn restaurant last week, with impeccable service and food that was perfect in quality, preparation, and presentation.

The chocolate souffle we shared for dessert was amazing, and the entrees were good. My husband enjoyed the lobster bisque, and his swordfish and my halibut were both very good. But my scallops were badly overcooked, rubbery, and nearly inedible. No one checked on the appetizers or asked if we needed anything after the entrees, and the man walking around to other tables, Bob I think, seemed to ignore us. The restaurant was also hot and stuffy despite it being 65 degrees and windy outside. I’m glad we didn’t come earlier in the week when it was close to 90. We do recommend the restaurant, though it needs some improvement.

Melissa, our waitress, deserves a big thank you. The staff were friendly and attentive from the moment we arrived, and the Ships Inn in Nantucket had a cozy, historic atmosphere full of charm. Dinner was fantastic, with everything well prepared. You can tell the team takes pride in the food and their work. We’ll come back next time we’re on the island. Highly recommend.
