Windward Shores Ocean Resort

I visited in winter, and the place could use more attention to detail. It didn't seem like they look after it much during the winter months.

Once you step out through the sliding doors, it's about a 30-second walk across the sand to the huge Ocean beach. Suite #16 was just as clean and nice as the pool area, and the immaculate landscaping around the office makes it clear how much care goes into the property. We've tried other places, but this is now our choice when we travel to the east end. Remember to tip the people who look after the rooms, even if you didn't need them during your stay. They still have to get the rooms ready for your next visit!

The pool was clean and just right, and the stars at night seemed almost close enough to touch. The landscaping feels natural, and there's a cool breeze both day and night. We loved having help with our luggage and a big cart for bringing everything to the room. Housekeeping took care of little problems quickly. The front desk staff were wonderful, especially Maishe. There were a few hiccups with the room at check-in, but they sorted them out right away. The beach setup crew were helpful and smiling, especially John, even as it got to 100 degrees and the sand felt like hot coals. Thanks for storing our chair! We had another beautiful getaway at Windward Shores. One thing to work on is updating the rooms when possible. Some older appliances are noisy and interrupt the relaxing sound of the ocean. We understand the owners of each unit have a say, but it's time for updates.

I came to Montauk for just one night in the middle of winter, and even with the rain, the amenities made for a nice day. There are tennis courts, a pool, and a private beach. My room had ocean views and two levels, with one bedroom downstairs and another upstairs, reached by a spiral staircase. Each level had a bathroom. The decor was beautiful, and the kitchen would be a real bonus for a family wanting to cook. The staff were very kind and attentive. I can't wait to come back in better weather.
