Lemon Tree Inn

We loved this inn and are glad we tried somewhere different. The rooms open onto a courtyard with a pool and landscaped yard, and each has a little porch with two chairs. The rooms feel like a well-worn but lovingly cared-for Key West home. Ours was clean and had a microwave and small fridge. The other guests were friendly, sitting out on their porches or by the pool. Best of all, Lemon, the resident kitty, came nosing into our room and made us feel welcome. We’ll be back!

It’s clean, safe, and simple, and a great value for a cute little hotel so close to 5th Ave. I’d call it three stars at best, but it’s good for what it is. The air conditioner in the best room was unacceptably noisy, so if that kind of sound bothers you, I’d avoid it. I didn’t use the pool, though the courtyard pool setup seems like a big draw.

We liked it so much that we stayed an extra night, and my daughter wants to return next year. The grounds and pool were clean, and breakfast was good, with muffins, oatmeal, juice, coffee, and fresh oranges. We also met Lemon the cat, which my girls loved. Housekeepers were nice and kept the room tidy. The office staff were friendly and helpful, and it was great that they stayed open until 11:00 p.m. We arrived at 11:00 a.m., but got an early check-in since nobody had stayed in our room the night before. It’s a convenient five-minute walk to 5th Avenue’s restaurants and shops, and CVS is right next door, so we walked there several times a day. We rented bikes from the hotel and had fun riding around town and down to the beach. My only suggestion is softer bath towels.

Lemon, the inn’s cat, kept me company outside all morning while I listened to the birds. The pool was clean, and the staff were friendly. It’s quiet, pretty, and quaint, a hidden gem with both expensive and cheap restaurants close by. The beach is a 10-minute walk and 5th Avenue is five minutes away. I’ll definitely stay here again.
