Embassy Suites Nashville at Vanderbilt

Lu at the front desk is the reason we'll keep booking here. We first chose this hotel because it’s near Vanderbilt hospital, where we’ve had multiple surgeries since October. We expected to need about three weeks close to the hospital in December for the final major surgery, so we tried two other hotels to find the right place for a longer stay. As soon as we met Lu, we booked here. She was incredibly kind, got to know us, and did her best to accommodate what we needed. When we checked in, we were nervous about the surgery ahead, but she remembered us and welcomed us in such a good mood that our anxiety eased for a while. After surgery, we couldn't sleep lying down. At 11 p.m., she went around the hotel gathering every pillow she could find and brought them to us to try and prop us up. She’s a bright, kind person who became a defining part of our trips and the reason we'll always stay here. I hope her bosses see this, she's bringing them business. The rest of the staff are wonderful too. Valet runs up the garage stairs to get our truck, and they've never damaged our big truck in the very small garage. The garage is tight, but valet costs only $5 more than self-parking, so it's worth it. Rooms are clean and spacious, the views are great, and you can try choosing your own room in the Hilton Honors app. Hattie B’s and lots of other restaurants are within walking distance, and Vanderbilt is less than a mile away. For the price, location, and Lu, we'll definitely be back. Photo is from room 1130.

Valet was great, and the staff were really friendly and helpful with our trailer. The location was great too, and we usually like the consistent quality at Embassy Suites. Breakfast was the letdown here. It’s normally really good, but this one was below par, which is why I’m giving four stars instead of five.

The lobby is gorgeous, and my room was spacious and clean. Breakfast had a great selection, too. There were a few little drawbacks: no pool, which was disappointing, though the gym does have a hot tub, and getting to the entrance was somewhat difficult. I also arrived to find no soap dish in my room. I mentioned it to the front desk and they sent one up almost immediately.

The breakfast was hearty and delicious, and the shuttle was handy. Mr. Tony was great, too. We liked the hotel overall, and our room was good, though the construction outside the window kept going through the weekend and wasn’t ideal after a night out. Since it was our first time in Nashville, we hadn’t expected all the stairs at the Broadway St. bars. With only one elevator working, waiting 10-15 minutes got old, so we used the stairs instead. This place should be much better once the second elevator is fixed and construction is done.
