Sheraton Nashville Brentwood

Our flight out of BNA was canceled, so we used points to book here. The tarps covering the sign made the building look like a dump as we drove up, and I didn't know the area or expect it to be far from the airport. I was surprised by how nice it actually was. The bed was comfortable, the furnishings were good, and the bathroom was well appointed. My only knock on the room's modern look was the decorative box they used to hide the in-room A/C.

The fall colors looked great from our forest view room, and the staff were honestly amazing, upbeat, and went out of their way to help, even with the lobby torn up. The newly renovated rooms are gorgeous, clean, and modern. Sleep was another story. Sound carried everywhere: from next door, through the huge gaps under the doors, and from doors that slammed shut. My watch kept tracking how often I woke up, and I slept terribly. The pool and gym are closed for renovation, so check ahead if you need them. If they end up as clean and beautiful as the rooms, they may be worth waiting for.

The staff at reception and housekeeping were pleasant to talk to, quick to respond, and helpful. I stayed five days in a double room while working, and the renovation work never disturbed me. It was peaceful and relaxing otherwise. There was plenty of space, a big bathroom with a tub, a dedicated workstation I barely used, a giant TV, and lots of room for luggage. A good stay overall. If work brings me back to Brentwood, I’ll choose Four Points again.

The shuttle never showed up, and a ride anywhere from this hotel costs more than $50. Guest services never answered when I called to ask about it. The free breakfast coupons handed out to make up for the construction weren't much use either. I only used one: the food was awful. The yogurt was the only decent thing, but I forgot it in a fridge that shuts itself off on a two-hour timer. The sandwich was soggy and hard as a brick, the cheese melted straight off in the microwave, and the muffins were tiny, crumbly lumps. The lobby is stripped down to the studs, and the dust was so heavy even on the seventh floor that I could barely breathe with asthma. Running the air helped a little but made the winter room very cold; the shower helped some too. The shower was the only good part. The room itself was hideous, with a fake-looking plastic textured wall behind the bed. This was the most expensive and least worthwhile hotel I've stayed at. Even the shampoo and conditioner are fixed to the wall, so you can't take travel sizes.
