I got this apartment in March, and my first couple of appointments with the leasing agent went great. On move-in day, though, her attitude changed completely. The lobby looks nice, but my floor smelled strongly of animal urine and other unpleasant odors. During an earlier appointment, I was told the floors had recently been shampooed. They looked disgusting, as if they’d been sitting for months. When we inspected the unit, several things were wrong: the cabinets were loose, broken, and sagging, and there’s a yellow stain at the bottom of the toilet that I can’t remove no matter how much I scrub or what chemicals I use. It took repeated requests and a couple of months to get the cabinets fixed. Soon after I moved in, the whole maintenance crew was fired, along with another leasing agent, and a property manager took over. The Wi-Fi lounge was still promised on the website months later, despite there being room in the main office. The pet spa was under renovation and apparently being converted into the new Wi-Fi lounge. The pool had reportedly been closed for three years, maybe four according to other residents I spoke with. None of this was stated on the website, which only showed two generic pictures, one not even of the pool. If you went up there, you’d see green water and chairs sticking out of it. The pool was supposed to open on Memorial Day, but opened on Independence Day after failing inspection. The fire alarms go off randomly, both at night and during the day. When one went off at four in the morning and NFD arrived, someone tried to reach the “24 hour courtesy officer,” who apparently lives on the second floor, but couldn’t get ahold of him. A maintenance worker from a different location had to come help the firefighters at four in the morning. I shouldn’t have to worry about my safety or belongings here. I was away out of state for three days and came back to find my door cracked open and unlocked. Nothing was missing. I reported it to staff, but got no updates, only that it wouldn’t happen again. Maintenance staff show complete disregard for residents’ safety and privacy. The elevator buttons are cracked and discolored, and you can’t see which floor you’re pressing without looking at the previous button. There are cigarette butts in the crack of the elevator door when it’s open on the lobby level. One elevator has a light out, and the other is missing one. Rent is at least $1,000 a month, plus $175 for parking, recently reduced to $150, and there have been break-ins on the property. Previous reviews mention cockroaches. I’ve only found them in the basement, but the gap under the door is wide enough for bugs and critters. I completely regret moving here.
