The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, and I had no problems with the AC, Wi-Fi, or TV. It's a useful location for Opryland Hotel and Opry Mills Mall, and we felt safe right around the hotel, though I wouldn't walk farther away at night. Even so, for a property under a year old, I expected more attention to detail from Hilton. The parking spaces were tiny, compact at best. We parked in every other spot when we could because there was barely room to get in or out, let alone load the back seat. Some trucks and large SUVs had to straddle the lines. Whoever approved those spaces got it badly wrong. The toilet was jammed against the wall and toilet paper rolls instead of centered in the space. Housekeeping came every two days, but nobody told us at check-in or left a notice in the room, and I couldn't find it on Hilton's website. We came back at 9 p.m. after being out all day and had to go to the desk for coffee pods and other things. I don't mind keeping the sheets or towels if there's somewhere to dry them, but guests should be told they can request service ahead of time. After the first night, we found a large wet patch, about six feet across, soaking the carpet by the chair. The floor under the AC was dry, but the front desk thought that might be the source. They had another room nearby, so we moved, though we had to pack all our belongings. We were told this wasn't a new problem and several rooms had soaked carpets. Hilton needs to address it quickly or could end up with a huge mold problem.
The room was clean, but the stay didn't measure up to other Hilton hotels I've used. I was surprised not to find the usual lobby touches, like complimentary coffee, tea, or infused water. The thermostat couldn't be adjusted, so the room stayed very cold at night and sleeping was uncomfortable. Between the missing amenities and the temperature, the comfort level wasn't what I expect from Hilton. I hope management improves the guest experience.
The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the front desk team were welcoming and friendly. My room wasn't ready when I arrived earlier in the day, but they stored my bags so I could head to my conference at Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. I was staying at Hilton Garden Inn Nashville Opryland because I booked late and it was one of the conference's overflow options. Later, after conference events, I spent time at the bar. The bartender, whose name I unfortunately can't remember, was personable and friendly. A solid stay with great staff.
We visited in September. The hotel is quite new, very clean, with spacious rooms, and it's not a bad area. We were able to walk back from the Grand Ole Opry. The front desk was helpful, though one morning a woman there spent the whole time I was at breakfast doing her makeup, which didn't look very professional. The buffet breakfast was terrible despite our vouchers: the hot food was awful, cereal was the only thing worth eating, the milk hadn't been replenished, and all the plates and bowls were dirty. The kitchen staff didn't seem impressed when I pointed it out, and the waitress was surly and seemed annoyed that we had vouchers. Other reviews seem to mention the same waitress, so I wonder why it hasn't been sorted out. On another morning, we had a lovely waitress who gave us some great recommendations.
The staff were amazing, but I wouldn't book this Hilton Garden Hotel again. We stayed four nights and the barn-style bathroom door wouldn't open or close. There was no hand soap, shower soap, or shampoo, and the room bottles were empty. We were told the hotel had none. There was also no coffee or water in the lobby, and although our room had a one-cup Keurig, there was no creamer. Most other hotels in the area had complimentary breakfast and refreshments available around the clock. There was no hot tub, just a very small pool, and it wasn't a comfortable place to relax.
