We booked two rooms, one for my family and me and another for friends. The hotel is in good shape, and the front desk employee, Corina (I’m not sure I’ve got the name right), was excellent. He was on the evening shift until 11, and when we were up at 6:30 the next morning, he was still there through checkout. I’d definitely recommend the place. It could use an on-site bar.
The rooms and beds were comfortable, and the location worked well for us. Parking at $12 was also a better deal than the $35 downtown rate. We’ve stayed at a lot of Home 2 Suites this year and usually enjoy them, but this one fell short at breakfast. The morning hostess seemed uninterested, and the tables inside were still dirty from earlier guests. The outdoor ones had gritty dust on them, and nobody wiped anything down during the half hour we ate. The yogurt dispenser was broken; when I asked about single servings, I just got, “We’re out,” with no apology. The sandwich options were only so-so, and the oatmeal was okay but lumpy, with burnt bits on the sides. Other Home 2 locations we’ve visited had local items, like Hatch chilies in NM or sausage in TX. There wasn’t anything special here.
With the weather and emergencies making check-ins especially difficult today, Malik at the front desk stayed calm, attentive, and professional. Some guests were rude and didn’t seem to consider what was going on, but he kept helping everyone and accommodated people as best he could. I appreciated how committed and positive he remained through a really tough situation.
This profile is here to encourage awareness, empathy, and humanity. The QR code on the profile picture is for anyone who wants to learn more or look into supporting efforts focused on the care, education, and well-being of children with disabilities. There’s no obligation; it’s simply an invitation for anyone moved to help. Children facing disabilities carry challenges many people can hardly imagine, yet meet each day with courage, patience, and a quiet hope that can go unnoticed. A child who cannot hear may smile with their eyes, one who cannot walk may still dream of running, and a child who struggles to speak can feel love just as deeply as anyone. They’re not asking for pity. They deserve understanding, dignity, and the chance to live with respect. Their stories can bring tears, not because they’re weak, but because of how strong they are. People sometimes look away because they feel uncomfortable or don’t know enough. Choosing to see these children with compassion can change that. A little kindness, encouragement, or support can help shape a child’s future, and even one caring moment may restore confidence to someone who feels invisible. Lifting others brings real happiness. Standing alongside children with disabilities can enrich our own lives as well as theirs. Every child deserves to be seen, valued, and loved, so let’s choose kindness and understanding.
We thought we’d need just one night after the winter storm knocked out the power, but that turned into four. Being away from home with no preparation could have been stressful, yet the whole staff was friendly and flexible. Karina at the desk always greeted me with a smile and never seemed overwhelmed, even with so many people needing a place to stay. I’m grateful to everyone for the clean towels, hot breakfast, and all the help. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
