Homewood Suites by Hilton Nashville Airport

The breakfast was good, with a bit of variety: ingredients for breakfast tacos, eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, oatmeal, chia pudding, yogurt, breads, and cereals. The rooms are a nice size, not far from the airport, and ours looked clean with fresh linens. The bed was fairly comfortable, and the furnishings seemed updated. We didn’t smell anything inside the room, though the hallway reeked of pot despite the floor saying it was 100% smoke free. The hand soap and shampoo bottles were bone dry, so it seemed nobody checked them while cleaning. One thing we weren’t told is that parking costs extra, and it was $50, which feels steep for an overnight stay that isn’t downtown. We were charged before check-in, so we couldn’t switch to our company card, which is tied to our IHG account. We usually change the card when checking in. We were just overnight guests, not doing a stay, park, and fly. I found another review mentioning the charge, but it wasn’t there when we booked.

The room with the heater had a loud blower, so I shut it off and listened to airplanes through the night instead. It was cold, and I couldn’t sleep. The clean replacement room was at the opposite end of the building from my family, and they told me there was nothing closer. I have medical issues and sometimes need immediate help, so being so far away was difficult. It’s not a place I’ll return to. The day before check-in, I got an email saying I could choose rooms for my two-room reservation. I couldn’t select them at first, then the system said they’d assign the rooms. They put them next to each other, which was what I needed, and sent a message that the rooms were ready before I’d even arrived. But when I checked them, one was fine and the other hadn’t been cleaned at all. I went down to report it and was told, “Oh my, these young people these days don't want to work.” An apology for the inconvenience would’ve been the right response, but I didn’t get one.

Getting around is easy from here. The hotel is less than ten minutes from the airport, with quick highway access to the rest of the Nashville area and retail and other hotels nearby. Breakfast is included. Still, I’d definitely choose somewhere else next time. It was easily the worst room we’ve had at a Hilton property, and the staff acted as though simply being there was a favor. The customer service needs work, along with the rooms and the tiny, subpar fitness center. Room 219 was a decent size, but felt pieced together. Some light fixtures were plugged into outlets guests should be able to use, especially by the bed. A few updated fixtures looked nice but didn’t match the decor. The bathroom exhaust fan sounded like it might crash through the ceiling onto whoever was using the toilet. I reported it and nothing was done during our stay. The bathroom door and floor molding were peeling, discolored, and dirty. The kitchen floor was dirty too, with dirt spots left behind the garbage can. The sofa bed mattress was awful, with every spring poking through. The front desk had no mattress topper and only one extra blanket, so putting the sofa cushions together to sleep on them is probably a better option. We stay at Hilton properties with sofa beds often and haven’t had this problem before. Breakfast was lackluster: some kind of ground meat that wasn’t good, probably powdered scrambled eggs, tortillas and burrito fixings, cereal, pastries, oatmeal, and make-your-own waffles. There were no hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, or other meats. We’ve had superb breakfast at plenty of Homewood Suites and Home2Suites, but this wasn’t one of them. With so many hotels near the airport, I won’t stay here again until they improve things. Quite unfortunate.

As a woman traveling alone for work, I appreciated that the hotel was in a safe, convenient area. The room was clean and comfortable, though the shower area was tight. The fitness room was good, and breakfast was nice, but Hilton hotels usually don’t offer a plant-based milk option, and this one didn’t either. Sunflower Bakehouse (EXCELLENT!) is about 1 1/2 miles away, along with other places to eat. A good place to stay.
