Hutton Hotel, Nashville, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The room was quiet and comfortable, and we barely needed to leave the hotel. Nathalie at concierge was helpful throughout our three-night weekday stay, even arranging a welcoming cheese platter in our room for our business event. The staff were friendly, and the on-site amenities were available. We enjoyed the stay, though the gym was closed and the restaurant wasn't staffed well enough for our group of more than 50. I imagine it will be even better once the spa opens.

I book client travel throughout the year and often use the Hutton Hotel. Gloria in reservations is consistently professional, kind, and accommodating, and she's always ready to help. She keeps the Hutton's reservation department running smoothly. Staff make a business, and Gloria delivers top notch service every time.

The room itself was nice, if a little small, and the hotel was good for my quick work trip. The problem came after checkout, when I realized I had left an expensive outfit in the closet. I called right away and submitted the chargeback form as instructed. Over the next few weeks I checked in every few days. Each time I was told they'd look for it, but it couldn't be found; they took my number and said they'd call if anything changed. At around three weeks, someone finally listened to my concern and explained the hotel's policy, though she still couldn't locate the items. I understand they can't simply assume someone really left an LV or Gucci bag, as I was told. But then what is the chargeback form for? The hotel says belongings left after checkout aren't its responsibility and it can't confirm the validity of a lost-item report. Leaving the clothes behind was my mistake, but they're still my things, not free for housekeeping or hotel staff to take. I expected more help with a common mistake, and I'm disappointed by the lack of care. I hope other guests don't forget anything here.

The performance was fabulous, even with all the problems around it. The venue itself is an interesting, intimate space, but management handled general admission seating terribly. We weren't told until inside that the balconies were standing room only, despite having room for 50 or more chairs. It felt like an amateur decision. Afterward, a manager acknowledged my comments and apologized, mentioning 85 no-shows and the possibility of adding chairs. But management hadn't spent time in the balcony. Guests eventually brought chairs from the adjoining hallways, which made things more confusing, and there still weren't enough for everyone. A complete failure by venue management.
