The staff at the front desk were friendly, nice, and helpful, and breakfast was great. The stay itself went smoothly, but I probably wouldn't return because the $75 pet fee is beyond my usual budget, and it seems they may raise it to $100. We had an issue with someone leaving a small, yappy dog in their room barking for hours. A woman complaining at the desk was livid, way over the top, but some staff and guests seemed to think my dog was responsible, as if he could sound like a 20-pound dog when he's at least twice that size. Maybe a pet-friendly floor would help. The room was spacious but outdated, while the lobby looked much newer. The bathroom was extremely small and not very nice. With a little sink and fridge, a microwave would be useful. Breakfast was good, though it would've been nice if it ran an hour later, given their generous check-in and checkout times. The area felt a bit odd, mostly hotels and a McDonald's, with few nearby stores besides the mall. Google Maps sent us down the wrong road on the way there.
The staff were wonderfully friendly, and the rooms were clean, even if the hotel isn't the fanciest. Breakfast was delicious, with a huge range of food every morning. For my work trip, the free shuttle to and from Gaylord Opryland was a handy extra. It runs hourly from 8 AM to 6 PM; if you miss it, an Uber or Lyft averages no more than $7. At one point the manager drove me himself and asked if I'd like to take my time enjoying the Christmas lights on the way back. That's southern hospitality and charm. I'm a fan.
We've traveled a lot and had some wild experiences, but I really loved this hotel. It was clean, the staff were respectful, and check-in and checkout were easy. The day shift gentleman at the front desk made my whole week. He was so friendly, positive, and welcoming that he made our stay amazing. Honestly, he's the best front desk associate I've ever met, and given how much I travel, that says a lot.
The room was nice and the front desk clerks were absolutely great. I think one man's name was Chad or Chet, and the young woman working the next morning said they call her mama D. Sorry if I've got those names wrong. Breakfast and coffee weren't very good, though. I rated the service four because, before booking for a business trip, I called about getting to Gaylord and was told the hotel had a shuttle that would take us there and bring us back. Once we arrived, I learned there was no shuttle. That was a big inconvenience since the shuttle was the reason I chose the hotel. Apart from that, it was a nice experience.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was fantastic. We stayed Monday to Friday, which was more than enough time. There are Bob Evans, McDonald's, and Cracker barrel nearby, plus a small shopping center within walking distance with antique shops. If you're not going downtown, Sports Bar and Music City Grill are both in that center. Downtown was an easy Uber ride, about $24 for four of us. Enjoy!
