The drain flies were the main reason for the low rating. There were dozens of them, worst in the shower, but also on the walls in the main room. It was borderline gross. Room 137 was tolerable overall and about the size I'd expect for the price, though there was a stale, not exactly bad smell when we first walked in. The bed was comfortable, with a firm, non-lumpy mattress and clean sheets of decent fabric. Two pillows total felt inadequate, and the blanket was thin, light, and barely covered the bed. The sink and vanity were clean and in good shape, the relatively new faucet didn't leak and had good pressure. The toilet was clean, worked well, and didn't run. The shower head gave a decent steady spray, and hot water lasted through two average showers back to back. But the tub insert looked nasty, maybe it had been painted, and almost half the basin surface was badly peeling, with chips starting to clog the drain. The mini-fridge was surprisingly large, and it was nice to have a microwave, though I didn't use it. There were two lounge chairs and a small coffee table that worked for eating, plus a desk chair in good condition. The TV came on without a picture. I called the front desk three times and nobody answered. After 10-15 minutes of fiddling with the TV buttons, we figured out it was on the wrong input and got it working.

After a long day of driving, we got a very restful night's sleep. It was a wonderful, quiet stay, and the place was kept clean, comfortable, and up to date. It deserves a very good ranking. Thank you!

There were roaches and other bugs around the fridge and microwave. The room wasn't what we expected: the walls were dirty, the bathtub paint was peeling, the sheets had holes, and the pillows were old and very small. The TV didn't work until I called the office and someone came to fix it.

The rooms were small, but they were very clean, and the bathroom was spotless. I'd definitely stay here again when I come back to visit crater diamond state park.
