Hampton Inn & Suites Navarre

The breakfasts suited us well, with a little variety each day and some familiar choices throughout. We didn't try the pool since the beautiful beach was too close. The fitness room is compact, with one of its two treadmills working, plus an elliptical, Pelton bike, a weight machine for upper and lower body, a Swiss ball, and some kettle bells. It's a nice option for couples and families, and pets are allowed. We needed an accessible room for family, and it was spacious enough for a wheelchair. Since we didn't need one, a second chair might have been nice, though we never asked. The only bathroom drawback was the tub and shower combination. Despite trails on each shower wall, our older family member didn't feel confident stepping over the tub edge.

Inside, the hotel was nice and clean, our room was comfortable, and the front desk was efficient and helpful. They even gave us a very good restaurant recommendation. We only stayed overnight on the way home, though getting there was difficult with construction on I-10 and US-98, heavy traffic, and a poor entrance. Breakfast was the big letdown. There was only wheat bread and tiny blueberry muffins, no bagels, English muffins, or white bread. The square scrambled eggs were rubbery. When I asked about it, the attendant said, “they get what they get,” then basically told me to stop “whining.” Later, while I was fixing a second cup of coffee, the attendant reached under my arm to refill the hazelnut creamers. Nobody else was in the room, nobody had asked for hazelnut, and the bin was already half full. Totally unacceptable. A decent breakfast should be part of the stay since it's included, not free, and the selection is a management issue. Add my pet peeve, a kiddie commode in a king room with no grab bar, and I wouldn't stay here again.

I left my speaker on the table, and the cleaning staff never turned it in. Don't leave anything valuable, because you won't get it back! The person I spoke to was rude, said the staff would never steal, and hung up on me. When I asked her to check the footage, she said it only went back to 5 p.m. on my checkout day. Ridiculous!

The room was only cleaned once during our five nights, even though we were told it should be every other day. When my wife asked, they said once was normal. Breakfast was just okay, and at 9:30 there were no biscuits left. The attendant seemed put out when asked to make more, even though breakfast was meant to run until 10. Check-in through hotels.com on the day was odd, though they did let my family into the room after a stressful day. Room 411 had mold, and between that and the animals I was coughing and sneezing all week. I’d think twice before booking again.
