Residence Inn by Marriott Neptune at Gateway Center

The pool is often closed for maintenance, and when it’s open the water is ice cold since it’s unheated, even though the pool room is kept warm. The roll-out couch advertised for two adults is unusable, like lying on boulders. There is only one room in the entire hotel with a roll-in shower, and you have to book a Queen bed room to get it. That room is also missing a 30 inch oven. This hotel IS NOT compliant with ADA or NJ Human Rights Laws, which require at least one room with a roll-in shower for every room type.

Marisa in housekeeping did a wonderful job. Every detail was spotless and showed real care, and she was kind, personable, and professional too. It’s nice to have someone take such pride in her work and make you feel comfortable in your own home. I’d highly recommend her as a thorough, trustworthy, and genuinely lovely housekeeper.

Room cleaners do good work, and the front desk staff are just okay. Management is another story. It’s been 2.5 weeks since a major snowfall, but the lot still hasn’t been fully cleared. Snow remains along the walking route between the ADA spaces, where clearing seems especially important for people who may be more vulnerable. A week after the snow, I asked the front desk clerk about it and he laughed, saying the plow crew kept coming back when people were parked there. Last night I asked the manager if he’d clear it. He called someone over the radio to come to the desk, so I thought he was going to give instructions. This morning there was still no change.

The breakfast space was large and had plenty of food in the morning, and my room had a nice layout with lots of room to relax and a fireplace. The place feels clean and comfortable, though it’s less updated than some other Residence Inn locations. Check-in took longer than it should because the employee on the desk last night was friendly but very slow. Even so, it was a pleasant stay and a good option in the area.
