I travel for healthcare work and book through my company. They sent the corporate card authorization multiple times before I arrived. The room was fine, the bed comfortable, and breakfast was nothing special, but none of that made up for five days of front desk chaos. I wouldn't wish this incompetence on my worst enemy. On the first night, they said they had no authorization on file. After driving all day for work, I slept in my car in Nevada, Missouri, with no blanket or pillow, on the hard trunk. One night might sound small, but it was cold and humiliating, and completely avoidable. It should never have happened. For the next four nights, it was the same routine. Each morning a different associate said it was fixed and told me to use my room. I'd come back from work and be locked out because the afternoon shift hadn't heard from the morning shift. One front desk worker told me, straight-faced, “I can't speak for the other shift.” Same hotel, same desk, and somehow no communication. On checkout morning, with my personal card already locked from the earlier mess, they tried twenty separate $400 authorizations over five hours. My phone lit up like a slot machine, and my bank asked if I was being robbed. I was only trying to leave the Holiday Inn Express in Nevada, Missouri. If you're a traveling professional, a healthcare worker, or anyone whose company is paying, book somewhere else. I'd choose a tent at Osage Prairie RV Park in Nevada over this Holiday Inn Express. One night sleeping in my trunk was one too many. Never again.

The rooms were clean and well kept, and the night staff we dealt with were wonderful, including Matthew and the woman who left after he arrived. There are a couple of problems, though. The card reader for after-hours entry doesn't work, and the sign saying so is off to the side where you won't notice it when leaving. My wife had to stand out in the cold after going to the car. The bigger problem was getting a call at 7:30 a.m. after our kids had a rough night and only fell asleep at 5. We hung up and unplugged the phone, then housekeeping woke us again around 9. The front desk had called because its system said we'd checked out already. They need to sort out whatever their computer is doing. The front desk didn't seem concerned when we checked out, and I'm not sure we'll stay at this location again. It definitely didn't meet IGH standards.

We stay here often for family visits and already have another stay booked. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they sorted out a small billing issue very quickly. This visit was better than the previous two, and we didn't see any bugs. The room needed a little more attention, since the carpets didn't look swept after the last guest. The place was busy, and cleaners were still turning rooms over late in the afternoon. They were working hard, so we didn't give them a hard time. We did hear the race track noise mentioned in other reviews. It wasn't loud enough to keep us awake, though it made the TV hard to hear. The track is close by, and that's not the hotel's fault. All in all, it was a great stay.

We had a nice stay, and the breakfast was pretty decent. There was a very early morning fire alarm, but it turned out to be faulty, and we're glad it wasn't a real emergency.

I found bedbugs on the mattress on my first night, Sept 6, in room 106 at Holiday Inn Express (Nevada). It was disgusting and concerning. I told the front desk right away and they moved me to a room across the hall. I've contacted hotel management and IHG several times by phone and email to report it and ask for a refund or compensation. Days later, I'm still waiting for a response. Bedbugs are a serious health and safety concern, and management's silence and lack of care are deeply disappointing. I shouldn't be ignored for trying to make sure other guests know about this. I rarely write reviews, but I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone, and I won't return unless management takes these problems and customer concerns seriously.
