Gruene Homestead Inn

My husband arranged everything himself, and we loved the place. The beds were comfortable, everything was very clean, and breakfast was great. The staff were the nicest, too. Outside our room, we especially liked the porch swing and watching deer show up around dusk. It's close to everything in NB and Gruene, and we'll try to stay here whenever we're in town.

We spent our anniversary weekend here, and I loved the whole stay. We were in Grandma's attic, such an adorable room with a rustic, homey feel and updated bathroom features. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the towels were nice, and the jetted tub had room for two. There was outdoor furniture and a little activity area for some buzzed fun. Staff were warm, personable, and accommodating, and late check-in came in handy. The complimentary breakfast was surprisingly good. We also enjoyed drinks at the on-site tavern and its cool bartender. It's almost right next to schlitterbahn. Gruene homestead was exactly what we hoped for, and we'll be back.

The breakfast was a real highlight. There were the usual bacon and eggs each morning, plus a different extra each day, pancakes one morning and quiche the next. We liked the place enough to add another night to our stay. The grounds are lovely, and the rooms and buildings are spaced out so you don't feel crowded. The pool looked just as good as the pictures, and over the two or three days we were there, we had it to ourselves. We were looking for somewhere other than a typical hotel, and this was a gem. We'll be back.

The property is beautiful and well kept, and we enjoyed staying in the Silo room for our honeymoon. It was a good size with nice updates and just the right amount of space. My only issue was the woman at the front desk. Our friends checked in for us to set up the room and found her less than welcoming, and we had the same experience ourselves. The room and grounds were great, but some of the staff could use improvement.
