Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham New Braunfels

We got in around 1 a.m. and the young woman at reception was very pleasant. The room smelled clean and fresh, and I was pleased with the stay. The continental breakfast area was good, with a nice selection.

We booked for three people, but after waiting 34 minutes at the front desk, we were told there was a $10 charge for an extra person. The room smelled like BO and curry chicken, and the smell never went away. The sheets weren’t made properly. Breakfast was disgusting, there was no water, and the hot milk smelled bad. We were locked out when we got back late one night during our four-night stay because the key cards didn’t work. We had to bang on the doors for hours to be let in. Several doors were broken, and the place smelled so bad. On top of that, we’d called to ask about a deposit and were told there wasn’t one, then they said we needed to pay one.

The location was great, and the staff were nice, but the room was in rough shape. The toilet ran all night, the tub wouldn’t drain, and the chair was wet even though nothing had spilled on it. Furniture, walls, and carpet were falling apart. Breakfast was nonexistent.

The website said pets were allowed, but when we arrived they told us dogs and other pets weren't accepted. I’d also booked online, and they said they couldn’t find my reservation. I needed to use the bathroom while trying to sort it out, but they wouldn’t let me in without a reservation. I nearly wet myself, and nobody made an effort to figure out what had happened.
