Hampton Inn and Suites New Hartford/Utica

I went in and got a room, but hadn't even entered it when I realized the one-night price was excessive. I went back to cancel and wasn't told when I booked that it was nonrefundable or what the cost would be. I only found out the amount from a text from my credit card company. No refund. I won't book Hampton or any other hotel associated with them again.

The area is really nice, quiet, and a little secluded. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms are a bit dated, but they were good, and breakfast was decent.

I've never stayed in a Hampton Inn this clean and organized. The renovation is fantastic, and Hilton seems to turn out a great place to stay no matter which brand you choose.

Jean at the front desk was amazing and deserves a raise or a higher position. The rest of the front desk staff were always pleasant too. I also really liked the gym, and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast could use work, especially the hot options. The food doesn't look appealing, and the fruit seems dry and not very fresh. Traveling abroad has spoiled me a bit because the breakfasts there are so much better. One morning there wasn't any breakfast at all, as far as I understood because the person had called out and the front desk worker on duty didn't want to prepare it. The other issue I've had at Hampton Inn locations is the AC. It turns on and off during the night instead of staying on, which makes it hard to sleep when you're a hot sleeper.
