Breakfast on Sunday was decent, with sausage patties, boiled eggs, bread and bagels, yogurt, fruit cups, and waffles. But the next morning was a mess. I called the front desk to ask about breakfast hours and got no answer. Both elevators were out, so I took the stairs from the second floor. When I got to the lobby at 9:15, breakfast had ended at 9. One woman brushed off my question about the elevators and walked away. A male staff member said a technician was expected and repairs should be done by midday, and let me into the breakfast area. Getting back to my room was frustrating too. The stairwell handle was missing, so I had to bang on the door until guests with luggage came out and let me through. My key cards then failed. I called the front desk from my cell and no one answered. Back downstairs, the male staff member said the phone line was busy, made new keys, then casually told me to go up to the third floor and back down to the second to get to my room, as if it were no trouble. Check-out was just as disruptive. One staff member knocked to ask if I was leaving, and I told her I’d requested a late check-out. A minute later another knocked and asked if I was checking out. He said the late check-out wasn’t on his list and that I had 15 minutes. As I rushed to pack, the front desk called to ask whether I was staying or going. I carried my bags down the stairs and checked out. I was there over Memorial Day weekend. I’d stayed the year before, when someone had to operate the elevator manually for guests going up. This time, I arrived around 8 on Saturday night and waited about 10 minutes because nobody was at the desk. A woman eventually came over and said she was alone and had been checking a guest room. Only one elevator was working then. The room itself was acceptable, but dated. It had a microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee maker, though the sheer curtains needed repair and the old desk and table were covered with scratches. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

We were stuck at the hotel after they refused to refund us so we could find somewhere else. My wife, our three-month-old, and I were visiting family in Connecticut, and this was one of the worst stays we’ve had. The room was filthy and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. The walls and couch were stained, the floor looked like it hadn’t been washed in ages, and the vent was disgusting and smelled awful. The bathroom was just as bad, with walls that looked close to caving in and derogatory writing on the sink. That’s unacceptable, especially in a place taking families. We’d booked multiple nights, but the hotel gave our room to someone else. A man used a key they’d issued him to walk straight into our room while we were inside with our baby. As parents, we found that terrifying. There was no sense of safety or privacy. The place felt dirty, poorly maintained, and dangerously mismanaged. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, especially families or people with children.

I want my money back, and I’ll never stay there again. The room they assigned was already occupied. Someone’s things were inside, and it looked like they’d just showered. The bed was broken and sank toward the back when we lay down, so my husband and I slept terribly and missed breakfast from being exhausted. I cut my finger on the bathroom wall. I’m worried I could get hepatitis from it, and I wish I’d taken photos. The room was in rough shape: dried old food on the nightstands, a desk chair with holes, and lampshades that should’ve been white but were yellow with stains. We had a view of the industrial park. They also charge extra per night for parking, and there was a sign threatening a $250 charge for smoking in the room. On the way out I asked to use the downstairs microwave, which was clearly there for guests during breakfast, and the woman said no. The staff looked miserable, nobody smiled, and everyone wore street clothes, so I couldn’t tell who worked there. That place should be closed, and I’m reporting it to the health department.

I’m only staying here because a house fire left me without a home, but this is insane. The room they gave us had pee all over the floor and walls. Nobody cleaned it all day, and the cleaning staff and front desk refused to take care of it. They laughed in my face when I had to clean it myself. One person told me to deal with it until Monday. The room also has electrical problems, the light switches don’t work. I highly do not recommend this place.

I stayed at this New Haven hotel for three days, and housekeeping didn’t clean my room once. On day two I asked why, and the housekeeper said I’d asked them not to clean it, which wasn’t true. On the third day I spoke with management. I’d left the room in a particular state to see whether they’d clean it, and they hadn’t. I won’t choose this hotel again. I think I deserve at least one night refunded because of this. The manager said rooms that are “very nasty” won’t be cleaned until checkout. I told him my room wasn’t nasty and that housekeeping is meant to freshen rooms. He tried to take back what he’d said, and I filed a complaint with corporate management.
