Best Western Plus French Quarter Courtyard Hotel

Darlene and Ty at the front desk were wonderful to us, and the rest of the hotel staff were great as well. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and a two-hour city tour was well worth the money. The location was just okay. The French QTR area felt old and not very safe, and the shopping was terrible. There were a lot of guys dressed up as women, and we didn’t feel safe. I wouldn’t stay in the French QTR again, though I’d choose a newer part of New Orleans.

Gary, the hotel cat, was a lovely surprise and made the place feel like home. She was a hit with my kids, who were delighted with the accommodations, and the staff were incredibly friendly. The pool and courtyard were inviting, with good hours, and the location is amazing. The Rampart Street exterior looks a little gritty when you first arrive, but behind it there’s a peaceful oasis in the busy city.

Everyone on staff was incredibly helpful, and we loved being close to everything we wanted to see in the French Quarter. The pool area was enjoyable too, and Gary the hotel cat was adorable, often hanging around there. The room was cramped for our family of four and a little outdated. I think it would suit a smaller group better, since larger families might struggle during a longer stay.

The courtyard view room was lovely, especially in the morning and evening when we could step right outside into the courtyard. Gary, the fluffy security guard 🐈, naps there often and sometimes patrols the parking garage and third floor. The neighborhood is quiet, with the main attractions just a few blocks away. Entry is keyed, the parking lot is gated, and hot water wasn’t an issue for us. The rooms were cozy and well kept, though the shower floor and room corners could use more careful cleaning. One night manager wasn’t friendly, while the other staff were. Breakfast works well if you want basics like cereal, bread, and eggs. I only tried the oatmeal and yogurt, which came from a dispenser that seemed odd but tasted fine. Coffee is available all day, and the lobby is very nice. Parking costs $39 a day, not $20 as advertised on third party sites.
