California Building

The location made it easy to walk all over the French Quarter, while being far enough away for peaceful, undisturbed nights. We slept well and still got to soak up the beauty of New Orleans. At the California building, the staff were timely and attentive, the rooms immaculate, and every detail handled beautifully. Highly recommend.

For our family vacation, we rented the four-bedroom apartment. It was beautiful, modern, and really spacious. The location was convenient, within walking distance of Bourbon Street and the main attractions. The bus and streetcar stop on Canal Street was only a block away. I’d definitely stay here again.

There’s loads of space and it’s comfortable, with everything you need: a good fridge, oven, microwave, washing machine, and two big TVs, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. I honestly can’t complain. There’s even a decent gym for basic cardio and resistance work. If you run out of drinking water, you can get some at the gym, and there’s a separate room for ice. Basically, it has everything you need while you’re in New Orleans.

The staff were kind and quick to help, but the stay still felt below average for what we paid. Parking was described as included, yet we had to pay each day for a garage nearby that wasn't connected to the property. The room also looked different from the photos, the view was disappointing, and the so-called “zen garden” was only a few flowers and a statue. The shared patio felt bare. We often returned to a strong weed smell in the apartment, though none of us smoke. On arrival, the couch cushions and pull-out mattress were stained, as were the pull-out sheets and pillows, which had yellow spots. Staff brought replacements promptly, but we then found a bug in the fresh sheets. The worst discovery was a molded paper towel on an ice cube in the freezer. The room itself was decent, just nowhere near expectations. We regret not choosing a hotel, since for the same money we could have stayed somewhere much nicer.
