Macarty House, A Bohemian Resort, pool and cabana bar

Lauren and Daniel did a wonderful job keeping the place's character while making updates where they count. My husband and I have stayed here several times over the past few years, and we'd been a little nervous when we heard there had been new owners in the last year or so. They ended up exceeding our expectations. It's got the historic feel, local character, warm hospitality, gorgeous pool and garden, and a seriously delicious breakfast, with modern conveniences and a reasonable price. A real gem in NOLA. We can't wait to come back.

The Bywater has its own flair and local personality, and I'd recommend staying there, though the walk to the French Quarter and attractions took us around 40 minutes. We were warned halfway there that the area we were walking through wasn't the safest, so getting a cab is worth it. When we arrived, Kurt made us drinks, gave us a full tour, and made us feel welcome. The breakfasts were phenomenal and everyone was incredibly nice. I never usually write reviews, but this place deserves one. It's gay owned and operated, and there were plenty of straight couples staying too.

The first night, my boyfriend proposed at Bacchanal down the street, since he knew New Orleans was my favorite city. That was in June 2015, when he was visiting for the first time, and we still talk about the wonderful trip. Everyone here was sweet and accommodating, and the breakfast was beautiful and tasty every morning. Now that we're married, we want to revisit Maison de Macarty with friends and renew our vows by the pool. Don't pass up this magical B&B, you won't be disappointed! YAY!

I came to vacation solo in the Bywater, a laid-back area with friendly people. Daniel and Lauren made the stay so enjoyable and comfortable, even on my own. They're warm, welcoming, and know the area well. The B&B itself was cozy, super clean, and served a great breakfast. I'd definitely stay at Maison de Macarty again, hopefully soon. Thanks, guys!
