This felt like a quiet place to come back to after the energy of the city. The bed was comfortable, the ceilings were high, and the soaking tub was great after a day and night out. We also loved the nightly turndown macarons and the fresh water each day. The decor felt thoughtfully collected, the rooms were comfortable, and there were good food and drink options. Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was delicious, and the wine and cheese hours were a treat. The screen access to the speakeasy bar next door was a fun touch, as was the tropical rooftop pool oasis next door. The hotel is right by the St. Charles car line, with the French quarter within walking distance. Go ahead and splurge, it’s worth it!

The courteous staff and excellent location were real positives, but my experience fell far short of what I expected for a luxury king suite at Jazz Fest prices. I was in room 10 facing Lafayette street, where loud trucks beeped and made deliveries between 4:30 and 6:30 each morning. Sleep was impossible, and I was told no other rooms were available. We also had no hot water in the bathroom sinks, although the shower was hot. My wife told the front desk, but we never heard back. We asked for service each day, yet toiletries weren’t replenished and we had to get them at the desk. For exercise or a swim, guests are sent across the street to a “sister hotel.” We couldn’t check in early, and my request for a late checkout after our third night was declined. They politely but firmly said an extra hour wasn’t possible because 35 guests were checking out. The location is great and the staff courteous, but the actual stay didn’t come close to the expectations.

I appreciated how warm and welcoming the service was while remaining professional and respectful of my space. The hotel is small, but has what you’d expect, and the rooms are thoughtfully appointed, well maintained, and have high-quality amenities. One thing bothered me: the app showed that pre-check-in had upgraded me to a one-bedroom king suite. At check-in, I was given a premium king room instead, and the front desk didn’t mention the change. I think they should have told me.

It’s hard to overstate how beautiful this hotel is. The soaking tub, comfortable bed and pillows, and big plush towels made the stay enjoyable once the broken heater was fixed. Some room lights stopped working the next morning. Maintenance problems happen. The robes were stiff and unusable, though. The streetcar passes at night, but it didn’t sound like a screeching train to me. I found it soothing. There’s no in-room coffee maker, but you can choose a delivery time for a thermos. Mine was late, but after I called 30 minutes later, they brought it right up. This is a pretty alcohol-forward hotel. We were offered free drinks while waiting for the room and again while waiting on the heater. We’re several years into sobriety, so we couldn’t accept. A non-alcoholic option, especially at evening reception, would be a great addition. I saw what looked like tea in the afternoon, but it was empty. They honored our Globalist benefits with a room upgrade, late checkout, and breakfast. The breakfast room is gorgeous, and the in-house hot sauce was amazing on eggs. Some potatoes were half raw, but I’m sure they’d have fixed them if I’d asked. We joked throughout the stay about staying next door in the Barnett just to have a water refill station. I was so thirsty and cold for several hours, but a couple of hot soaks in the tub and the space heater they brought up helped.

The streetcars and morning trash trucks came through clearly because the windows didn’t block much sound. After housekeeping took our dirty towels, they didn’t leave fresh ones. I called the desk and was told they were coming, but 30 minutes passed, so I went to the lobby. They said they’d bring towels to the room, then 15 minutes later someone unlocked the door without knocking or announcing themselves. We were woken early by a call saying our latte had been delivered, even though we hadn’t ordered one. The advertised evening wine and charcuterie was disappointing too: there were no wine glasses, and the 12x6 plate had already been picked over. I booked because the room photos on the hotel site showed a bathtub, but only some rooms have one. That felt like deceitful marketing. This wasn’t a good experience, especially for the price. I stayed at the end of December 2025, and don’t think it’s worth the money now. Maybe it was a good property before Hyatt took it over.
