The Quarter House

Our one-bedroom setup was just right for staying with a little one, and the location couldn't be beat. Lots of great shops and restaurants are an easy walk away. The property was beautiful, with unique, well-kept rooms and comfortable beds. Free laundry in the lobby was handy. Sunday's continental breakfast made a nice start to the day, and we enjoyed the complimentary walking tour. Mr. Fisher kindly brought our bags up to the room, and Lawrence was great as well. We'd definitely love to stay again.

Born and raised here, I’m a 504 Boy, though I’m not part of the group called the “504 Boyz.” I’ve stayed at “THE GAMUT” three times now, and each visit has been three times better than any other place I’ve stayed in the Big Easy. 💯 That’s what I mean by gamut: the full range of something.

Just two blocks from Bourbon Street, this little place was better than we expected and very affordable. Our room was lovely and spotless, with high ceilings, a big bedroom, full kitchen, and a living room with two hide-a-beds. The small courtyard was cute, too. The elevator was out, so we used the stairs or the back elevator with our luggage, which the staff held for us. The jazz bar next door was easy to hear from our room, but it closed at midnight and didn’t bother us.

The location is great, close to the strip and not far from downtown, and the room was huge. The living area had no windows but was comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped. Our stay was still a bad experience. We counted 13 roaches on the kitchen counter the next morning, the bedroom faced a noisy main road, and the top bedding was dirty, though the sheets underneath were clean. We were glad we brought our own pillows. On arrival, staff watched us struggle with our luggage without offering help, then checked us in so coldly that we felt uncomfortable. When we mentioned the problems at checkout, they didn’t seem to care. I’d avoid this hotel.
