The quiet was what surprised me most. Flagler Avenue is lively, yet somehow the Inn on the Ave gave us stillness, and for 24 hours the world seemed to soften. The care and warmth, along with home-cooked breakfasts that could quietly rival a Michelin kitchen, made us feel like we belonged there. We loved sitting at the beautiful hand-crafted pancake table in the morning and flipping our own pancakes like kids. It’s a simple idea, but it sums up the place: thoughtful, welcoming, and quietly joyful. Staying there felt less like a visit and more like returning to a home we somehow already knew. My husband has a knack for finding places built with heart and intention. Though the inn is only about 13 years old, it feels as if it has been there for a century, with every room, corner, and detail thoughtfully arranged to bring warmth and charm from another time. New Smyrna Beach has the ocean on one side of town and the river on the other, and there’s something quietly magical about it. Tucked along lively Flagler Avenue, the inn feels like a secret the world hasn’t quite discovered. At this stage of life, when time moves fast and quiet moments are rare, the gift of space, beauty, and peace, even for just 24 hours, is something you don’t forget. The Inn on the Ave gave us a memory we didn’t know our hearts needed.
The included breakfast was a highlight, beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. Carol and Angie made us feel at home as soon as we arrived, and the pancake griddle at our table was such a fun touch. Be sure to try their tasty sangria, too. The Mermaid suite room was roomy, cozy, and incredibly comfortable, with shopping, restaurants, and the shore all walkable. We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful bed-and-breakfast. If you’re after a peaceful, welcoming experience, this is it.
We left the car in the reserved spot at the Inn’s parking area and walked everywhere, from the shops and entertainment along Flagler Avenue to beautiful New Smyrna Beach at the eastern end. We’ll be back very soon! For my birthday weekend, my husband and I stayed at Inn on the Avenue and had a perfect time. We enjoyed the birthday cake, which was available as an add-on, and two delicious breakfasts. While innkeeper Carol prepared our breakfast entrees, we made our own pancakes on the special griddles built into the dining table. So fun, especially with add-ins! You can also drive to The Garlic Restaurant, NSB’s amazing italian restaurant.
The location is great, and the innkeeper was very nice. Breakfast was great, too. But I was given a handicap room that wasn’t ADA compliant. The bed was too high to get onto without a stool, and the whirlpool tub wasn’t ADA compliant either. The WiFi didn’t work, and when I tried calling the innkeeper at 5 pm, I didn’t get a return call. They also charged a resort fee, though there was nothing resort-like about the place.
The busy street was part of the appeal for us. We parked the car and walked to the beach and restaurants, then sat on the upstairs porch and watched people go by for free entertainment. The rooms were clean, and both the service and daily breakfasts were good.
