Windsor Motel

The place is a little seedy, but it’ll do in a pinch and isn’t the worst. The staff are friendly. It was somewhat dirty, though the beds were clean. The wood floors were nice, but the beds weren’t very comfortable. Some wallpaper was peeling, a few lights didn’t work, and the heater was rusted and probably unusable, though it didn’t matter in summer. My dad adjusted the TV settings, and the picture looks a bit better now.

We were just passing through for the evening, but a mouse ran across the room, so we decided we couldn’t stay. I complained to the manager about the room and asked for a refund. He initially wouldn’t let me into the office and asked what I wanted while I was outside in the cold; once he let me in, he returned my money. That was the only positive part. We found a Ramada Inn about 15 minutes away, paid a few dollars more, and got a continental breakfast and a much better experience. The hotel claims to offer a clean room and free breakfast, but our room needed repairs. The walls needed patching and paint, the shower had hair on its walls, and the bathroom door looked punched in, with a badly spackled and painted patch. The sheets and pillows smelled bad. There was only one towel, no soap in the shower, missing shower tiles, weak water flow, and a shower head that leaked after being turned off. When I asked the office for towels, the manager said the cleaner would bring them in five minutes, but nobody came. I returned to say so and that I’d pick them up later; a few seconds later he brought one. The service was poor. The shades in both the room and bathroom were broken, the thermostat wouldn’t turn on the heat on a cold night, and the bedside lamp had what looked like a broken socket hanging loose. The main light was an exposed fluorescent bulb with no cover.

The man at the desk was very nice when we arrived, but the room was awful once I got the key. There was mold in the shower, peeling laminate floors, outdated beds, big gaps around the AC, and an empty alcohol bottle on the windowsill. I couldn’t accept having my children stay there. I’d only suggest it to college kids who want to party somewhere they won’t need to clean up. The man showed us another room when I went back, but I still wasn’t comfortable staying with my family. He refunded us, but don’t stay there.

The first room was far from clean, and its bathroom window wouldn’t lock. The floor tile was broken and dirty. The second room felt more secure because its windows locked, and it was a bit cleaner, but it still could’ve been better.
