Aloft by Marriott Long Island City-Manhattan View

Kim at the front desk went out of the way to recommend local places to eat, and the other attendants were great too. My room had a nice city view and felt very thoughtfully arranged, with just the right amount of space for a NYC hotel. The mirror area had excellent lighting, the shower felt amazing, and there was even a fridge. The area seemed very safe, and the subway was close enough to make getting around easy.

The staff were friendly and courteous, and my room was clean with enough space. From the top floor, there’s a great view of the Manhattan skyline and Long Island City. The hotel is well placed for major subway lines into Manhattan and Queens, and the nightly price felt worthwhile compared with other places. It’d be my pick whenever I’m in NYC.

The bed was really comfortable and the shower pressure was great. I stayed in a guest king room, which was a bit tight if you’ve got lots of luggage, but it worked fine for me on my own. The price was pretty good for how long I stayed, and I didn’t have any issues otherwise. You do have to go downstairs for boiling water. The hotel is in Long Island City, just one subway stop from Manhattan, so it could work well for a first trip to NYC. I didn’t get the great view other people mentioned.

Urna, the food and beverage manager, really stood out. She gave me restaurant suggestions and ideas for things to see and do nearby, plus directions for getting around. She was like a concierge, and I appreciated all the help. Breakfast was very well done, and the bar was excellent in the evening. I also had a nice room with a great bed and bathroom, and the service from the front desk and housekeeping was great. Thank you, Urna!
