We booked for September 21-24 after my husband liked the online photos and low price. The old saying about getting what you pay for felt very true. Photos can be misleading. The parking deck had an overflowing dumpster when we arrived. Inside, the elevator was tiny, with room for only two or three people carrying one piece of luggage each. The sound it made when reaching a floor was like a tone from the 1930s, and I found it unsettling. The lobby looked much nicer than its online photo, and the manager was pleasant and seemed glad to see us. But there was more trash when we stepped out of the elevator upstairs. The room was dark and small. The sink was so close to the bed that you could wash your hands while sitting on it, which I certainly didn’t do. After two minutes in the room, we decided to leave. We told the manager in the lobby. He didn’t seem surprised we were leaving early, and we were told we’d get a refund. Five days later, the charge was still on my credit card, along with the pending $75 incidental fees. That’s completely unacceptable.

At the rate they charge, I expected far more. The rooms felt old and dated, and weren’t even close to ADA compliant. My room stayed at 74 degrees because the air conditioner didn’t work. Luckily, the window opened a little, or it would’ve been unbearable. There were no basic conveniences: no bottled water, no little store for snacks or essentials like aspirin. Even the toilet paper was the thinnest and cheapest I’ve ever seen. To me, this felt more like a Red Roof Inn and should cost under $100 a night. Definitely not worth the price.

The hotel itself is great. The rooms are a good size and the bedding is comfortable, though we do wish the bathrooms were a bit bigger. It’s not a big deal. The breakfast is wonderful, and you definitely get what you pay for. We had an issue during one of our stays and then some follow-up communication with an employee who’s no longer there, though that departure wasn’t related to our problem. Jess, the manager, was amazing at troubleshooting and was able to compensate us for the trouble.

My family had a great stay during a busy festive season. The atmosphere felt warm and genuinely hospitable, the staff were friendly, professional, and helpful, and breakfast was nice.
