BKWAY Hotel Brooklyn

For what I paid, this was a great value, and the service made the stay feel especially welcoming. The staff checked in on my comfort, offered good nearby recommendations, and were always willing to help. The property was clean and well kept, and my room was spotless when I arrived. Affordable without giving up quality. I'd definitely stay here again.

The front desk manager gave me a hard time about everything on the night of October 26th. The owner should pay attention. The whole stay was a disappointment. The location felt terrible for sightseeing, far from anything worth visiting, with traffic and noise around and nothing convenient nearby. I spent more time getting places than enjoying my trip. There wasn't even a hairdryer in the room. In 2025, how can a hotel not have that basic amenity? I asked the front desk and they just shrugged and said they don't provide one. Completely unacceptable. The rooms felt outdated, the atmosphere was depressing, and the price wasn't justified. I left frustrated and feeling cheated. Stay somewhere else.

The booking problem was the worst part of my stay. At check-in, the woman at the desk confirmed three nights. On the first night, a man working the desk stopped us and said there was an issue and our reservation only covered two nights. He didn't offer help, said he couldn't do anything, and told us to speak to the woman in the morning. I suspect he didn't know how to use the booking system. We had to find another place for the last night with almost no notice. If that hadn't happened, I might not have minded the stay so much. The hotel was inexpensive by New York standards and close to trains, which made getting to and from Forest Hills for a festival easy. The location wasn't picturesque, but that fit the price. The room and service were still major problems. The bathroom door was like a sliding barn door, wouldn't lock, and slowly slid back open. The bathroom switches were odd and hard to use, and its fan didn't work. The whole hotel was humid. Curtains didn't cover the full window, and what looked like a sheer curtain was actually a plastic shower liner. I kept hearing what sounded like a distant scream or yell from elsewhere in the hotel. The two front desk attendants were unfriendly and unhelpful. They say they offer luggage drop-off, but it's an open basement room anyone can enter, so I didn't feel bags were guaranteed safe. There also seemed to be a spotted lanternfly infestation near the entrance.

I had a great time here. The location was good, the room was clean and nice, and the customer service was so, so nice. I accidentally booked two beds, but the staff were accommodating and switched me to one king bed. I'd definitely stay again.
