For $75 a night in Manhattan, this was about what I expected. It's in a fun part of town, and having a bathroom and a closet at that price feels lucky. Bring your own sheet, pillow, and light blanket if you can, and pack headphones. ✌️

The location is great, but this place felt more like a homeless shelter than a hotel. There was literally a guy living in the lobby. The bathrooms were the most disturbing and disgusting I've ever seen, with a huge hole in the ceiling and such a filthy state that I don't think they'd seen a cloth or disinfectant since 1952. I've stayed in jungle lodges with cleaner, better facilities. Maybe $90 is cheap for NYC, but you'd be better off paying more for a cleaner stay.

I've never had a travel experience this horrible. From the start, I wondered how this place could be called a hotel; it felt like a room on the street. I don't know how the municipality approved it as a hotel. My room had no ceiling and seemed connected to the others, so I couldn't sleep at all. There was no fan or A/C air conditioning. The toilet was very dirty, and when I asked the receptionist to clean it, he told me to use the other one instead. There was a bed bug in the room, and I couldn't sleep because of it. This place should be closed by the municipality. Don't stay here even if they pay you. I wanted to share some pictures but couldn't. I also shared some, actual pictures, not like the fake ones they published.

The staff were courteous, friendly, and willing to help throughout my stay, which was a bright spot. Still, I can't recommend the Bowery Grand Hotel if you're hoping to relax. The place was very unclean, and the number of people struggling with substance abuse and alcoholism made it feel uncomfortable and unsafe. The rooms were cramped, with poor sound insulation, and the nightly noise made a good night's sleep impossible. I heard conversations, loud music, bodily noises, snoring, and blaring alarms, sometimes going on for minutes. The potential here is overshadowed by those conditions and the noise. If you want peace and quiet, look elsewhere.

The location's pretty convenient, in lower east Manhattan, and you can get anywhere by train. But after a week here, I'd say don't bother unless you're super young or super broke. The price is good, sure, but you get less than you pay for. The bathroom was so disgusting I felt like a rat could pop up any second. I'd rather use the washrooms in restaurants on 42 st. The room was tiny, and if you bring an actual suit it'll feel way too full. I was there in summer and it was so hot, with a weird smell from all the people around. There isn't a real roof over the room, so you smell and hear everybody. I was unlucky: one guy talked to HIMSELF all night, and another was gooning, because I heard him moan A LOT. If you're a real tough guy and none of that bothers you, go ahead.
