Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan/SoHo

I was looking forward to this stay, but the staff at this particular Marriott in Soho/Manhattan left me frustrated by their lack of professionalism and communication. We’d paid through the 28th, but after checking in on Sept 25, we noticed the bed was dirty and the sheets were wrinkled, like they hadn’t been washed. The next day, we found what looked like some kind of drug capsules in the mini fridge. With a child possibly getting into something unknown, my girlfriend and I were upset and called the front desk. The gentleman there brushed off the concern without asking questions, though maybe things like this happen often. He said he could only refund the third night, since we’d slept in the first and the second would count as an early checkout fee. I felt that didn’t really account for the risk to my child, but accepted it and moved on. A week later, there was no refund, so I called again. Manager Tyrone told us the person who checked us out was new and didn’t know Expedia bookings weren’t eligible for any refund. I thought the staff should be trained better. We ended up paying for nights we didn’t use. At that point, I wished I’d sold the mysterious pill to make up some of the room cost. What?! Marriott, do better. I’ve called and emailed customer service over and over. They promised the hotel would get back to me, but nearly two months later I still haven’t heard from the General Manager.

The hotel was clean, and the furnishings showed little to no wear. Christina helped with last-minute reservation changes and made sure our group was well looked after. Great location in SOHO, and I’d recommend staying here.

September 2025: I spent three nights here, and the stay was okay, though I struggled to get a good night’s sleep. The location was fantastic, the service friendly, and the shower had good pressure. The rooms are small, and I didn’t have a good spot for my luggage. A stand for a roller bag would have helped. I was on the 7th floor and could hear steady traffic outside. Maybe a higher floor would be quieter. The bedding, mattress, and pillows weren’t comfortable, and the pillows could use a refresh.

I had an urgent passport appointment nearby and realized I’d forgotten proof of my international travel. A kind gentleman at the front desk printed it out for me. I’m so grateful, best hotel front desk in the city!
