Holiday Inn Express Kennedy Airport

The breakfast choices were good, though the seating area was tight. We had to wait for a table, which was manageable for our one-night stop, but could be tough with little kids. I also missed having brown sugar for coffee or tea, something other locations have offered. That was enough to keep me from giving five stars, I need those little packets! The staff at the evening desk were professional, and the daytime desk cleared up a checkout mix-up after housekeeping knocked around 11:30, thinking we were due out at 11 instead of 2. I had to go downstairs to confirm we wouldn’t be charged for another night, so it left us feeling rushed. The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean. There wasn’t a fridge at first, but one was brought up soon after we asked. I like the large shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles IHG provides. The hallway smelled a little old, but it was bearable. We’ve stayed at airport Holiday Inn Express locations before, and this brand has improved since our last stay in Florida in 2017.

The room was plain but clean, and the AC worked really well. I was glad they let me check out at 2 since my flight was later. The airport shuttle was a real plus, arriving every 15 minutes so there was hardly any wait. I would’ve liked a minibar with beer, though a nearby restaurant can deliver beer to the room.

I stayed here in November, 2024, and ended up with bed bug bites all over my legs that needed medical attention. When I called the front desk to report it, the staff member accused me of making it up for points or a refund before even hearing what happened or taking my concern seriously. Don’t stay here if you want to avoid bed bugs.

I wound up here after learning that the Holiday Inn on Brookville Blvd had apparently become a shelter. I only found out ten minutes before arriving, and only because I called to ask about restaurant hours. That’s a separate property, but it’s the same company and I felt it needed mentioning. The room here was clean, but the bed was uncomfortable, which matters a lot to me after a long day of travel. At night the noise was awful, and the grounds weren’t well kept. There was black ice all over the parking lot, despite the $24 per night parking charge. Staff seemed to be doing the bare minimum, and customer service could use work. I didn’t expect much from a two-star hotel, and the stay wasn’t terrible, but I won’t return or recommend it.
