Holiday Inn Manhattan - Financial District, an IHG Hotel

Touria and the hotel team made our two nights in Manhattan feel special. Touria was warm and helpful, from sharing local recommendations to adding thoughtful touches in our room. The hotel itself looked stunning, and we loved the cozy room, good food, and Manhattan atmosphere. Everything went smoothly, and we’re already looking forward to returning. Thanks, Touria!

The hotel was clean, felt safe in the neighborhood, and had friendly staff. Our room was quiet, with a small glimpse of the water between buildings. We also liked the Dove soaps and cream, the computer space downstairs, and the lobby area with a microwave, coffee machines, and seats. The restaurant attached to the hotel was amazing, as I mention in a separate review. It’s close to the subway and an easy walk to the Statue of Liberty lookout and One World Observatory. A few things could have gone better. We booked online and didn’t realize our standard room had no fridge or microwave. At over $200 Canadian a night, I thought those should be included. There was a more expensive room option, but the difference wasn’t clear while booking, and maybe those extras were available for a fee. The hairdryer failed on the first morning, though a maintenance worker found a working one in an empty room. Our coffee maker was fussy too, and he came down to explain how to use it. The younger women at the front desk couldn’t suggest restaurants when we asked, but some of the men recommended a pizza place on the side street, which was great. Parking isn’t at the hotel. Its affiliated lot is about a four to five minute walk away, but we parked at the end of Washington, only a block away and apparently the same price. We had a good experience overall.

The rooms can be small because of the location, so don’t expect the space you’d get at a suburban hotel. For the value, though, I think it’s great. There are lots of international travelers, and the staff are patient. Parking takes some planning. The hotel offers a discount, but I’d use an app to find and reserve a spot on the west side of the financial district, around Battery Park. It’s a five to ten minute walk, and some apps help find discounts. Street parking is possible, but you need luck and have to keep an eye on time restrictions. The hotel itself is clean and well located. I love it.

The room is small but manageable by New York City standards. It’s laid out well, with enough light and power outlets, and service was on time. The location is easily the best thing about the hotel. I had trouble communicating with housekeeping because the staff only spoke Spanish, and I could barely get my message across. The front desk employee was also a bit rude while explaining check-in and the room assignment.
