We stayed at Kimpton Era a couple weeks after it opened in March 2026. The location near Rockefeller Center and 5th Ave was great, with easy subway access. I had to go out alone to a pharmacy at night unexpectedly and felt safe the whole time. The rooms were small but clean, quiet from outside noise, and had comfortable beds. Service was awesome. The doormen were polite and welcomed us each time we came back, and the hotel held our bags before the room was ready and after checkout before our flight when we asked. We also got complimentary late checkout on request. They hosted a reception each night with free wine and beer. My minor son couldn’t drink, of course, so they poured him a glass bottle coke and didn’t charge for it. We’d absolutely stay here again!

The place is nice, but the system was such a mess that I’d be better off staying elsewhere. It took more than an hour to get into our room, and the elevators took too long for a place with over 20+ floors. After check-in, the attendant spent over 30 minutes trying to find the bags we’d dropped off earlier, saying, “I can’t find them, I wasn’t here this morning so I didn’t put them away”. Then they wrote down the wrong room number, so we had to come back to find out the right one. Our cards hadn’t even been activated. Nobody took accountability, and the staff looked stressed. On the way down to sort everything out, the bell hopper vented, saying “I’m just having a really bad day”. They still have a lot to figure out. I’d avoid staying here if you can.

I rarely leave reviews, but I know what makes a good hotel. I’ve stayed in five-star places around the world and more than 16 hotels across NYC, and this was my second visit to Kimpton Era Midtown in two months. For a new hotel still getting started, it’s already one of my favorite stays. NYC hotels are all small, but this one makes good use of its space. I had a beautiful room on a high floor, with lovely views and a private terrace. The staff have great energy and a welcoming spirit. They seem like genuine people who really want to work in a good environment. As an emergency room healthcare provider, I especially want to recognize Maalik Lewis. With so much going on around him, he stayed cool, calm, and collected. He communicates well, leads strongly, and made the experience memorable. He runs a strong team. Thank you, I’ll be a lifelong customer!

The staff were all incredibly hospitable, and JP and Darya were especially accommodating. They understood what I needed and made the stay comfortable. The rooms are small but clean and updated. I was surprised how quiet they were, even though the hotel is by Rockefeller. A wonderful stay.
