The location was good, the rooms were more spacious than at other NYC hotels, most employees provided really great service, and the toiletries smelled lovely. But the receptionist on the morning of 2/17 abruptly asked us to check out in a very awkward interaction. We were leaving anyway, but it felt uncomfortable, especially since the other staff had been welcoming. We weren’t told about policies the hotel cares about until checkout, instead of before check-in. I don’t want to break a rule on purpose, and a warning would have helped both sides. They should communicate policies better, especially ones that aren’t clearly advertised. Room service avocado toast arrived burnt. I’d asked for egg whites, but the eggs had a slight yellow tint. I wondered if they’d accidentally included the yolk and tried to remove it. When things like this happen, it’s easy to see why people with allergies struggle to eat out.

We picked this hotel to stay somewhere more local and away from the Times Square crowds. The room was clean, lovely, and matched the size shown in the online photos. We also had a really nice view, which was a bonus. Staff at the front desk were friendly and helped with our questions. We didn’t make it to the rooftop bar, and the main restaurant was being refurbished during our November visit. I’d definitely stay again on our next trip to NYC.

ModernHaus SoHo was a first for me, and I loved the hotel, the staff, the service, the breakfast menu, the decor, all of it. I want to come back in summer and enjoy the outdoor terraces and rooftop too. Definitely on my repeat list. Highly recommend.

The best thing about the hotel is its location, right by the Canal St subway stop, and I’d return. I stayed for an October weekend getaway and had a lovely time. I love SoHo, though it’s pricey. Booking through Hotels.com saved me a few hundred dollars, but the stay still cost a lot. The room had a skyline view toward FiDi, which I really enjoyed, and a great bathroom layout with a huge rain shower. The space was thoughtfully designed, with several outdoor levels downstairs and a great rooftop bar, but the hotel is showing its age and the room needs renovation. Staff were friendly, brought ice quickly, and housekeeping refreshed the room and replaced our towels during the day. Still, the internet called this a five star hotel, while the service felt more like four stars.

We wanted a place with easy Broadway access plus restaurants and shopping, and Modernhaus delivered on all of it for our two night trip. The subway is just a block away, and West Broadway has loads of boutique shops. A cab to West Village cost less than $20, while the ride by subway to Midtown and Broadway was only 20 minutes. Hospitality was excellent, and the room was clean, comfortable, and very nice.
