After checkout, I was unexpectedly charged a smoking fee at Park Central Hotel NYC. I don’t smoke, and neither do the people who traveled with me. We willingly signed the non-smoking policy at check-in because we wanted to stay in a smoke-free hotel. Nobody smoked in our room during the stay. The hotel told me a detector may have triggered the fee, but the only device we used that could have produced heat or airflow was a Dyson hair dryer. There was absolutely no smoking. I’ve contacted the hotel several times to dispute the charge and ask for a proper review, but haven’t received a clear or helpful resolution. It’s extremely disappointing to face a significant fee after following the policy we agreed to. I’m asking for a fair investigation and removal of what appears to be an inaccurate charge. I hope management contacts me promptly to resolve this. The reservation was under Jennifer Aguinaga. Thank you.

Mariah at reception gave our NYC trip a great start. She answered all our questions, offered recommendations, and was wonderful throughout. We enjoyed the trip and would definitely come back. There was a problem with an item we left behind. Nobody told us about it until we realized it was missing. When we returned for it, we asked guest services whether they would have contacted us if we hadn’t come back. They said they didn’t know who had previously been in the room because the history gets deleted. That didn’t make sense to me, since I feel they’d have been quick to charge the card on file if we’d damaged the room.

We went in mid-February, two adults and two children, and the price made this a very good hotel for the location. Our Manhattan room was spacious for that price range and even had the desk we needed. It was clean, as was the bathroom, the beds were comfortable, and the heat, hot water, and elevators all worked, despite some complaints I’d read. I’d already booked before looking at reviews and nearly cancelled, but figured people with bad experiences are more likely to post. We kept the reservation and were happy we did. The gym was clean and well maintained, with Peloton bikes, rowing machines, treadmills, and free weights. There’s a quick breakfast option at the hotel, and plenty of great coffee shops and all kinds of restaurants within five minutes. Central Park is two blocks away and Times Square is a five-minute walk. It’s definitely no Plaza, but for what we paid, it was really good. The hotel staff were friendly, and we’d happily stay again.

We had a wonderful family stay in room 714. It was big and very clean, and the hotel sits between Times Square and Central Park, right by the subway. A fantastic place to stay if you’re visiting New York. I was charged twice for the room by mistake, but they fixed it quickly. I hope to come back soon.

The location is very central and handy for the sights and subway. We stayed December 20-24 and knew from the reviews to keep our expectations in check. We also paid much less than at other hotels nearby for those dates, so we knew it wouldn’t be the best stay. Even so, I wouldn’t return and would strongly suggest others consider somewhere else. I could overlook worn window shades, but the room temperature and hot water were basic needs that weren’t met. The room seemed stuck in heat-only mode, like a furnace. We set the thermostat to 65, but the heat kept running and there was no way to cool it down. Hot water was scarce too. The elevators were a huge problem, sometimes with waits over 30 minutes. We often chose to walk to or from our room on the 18th floor. We were out most of the day enjoying the sights, which helped, but this hotel wasn’t a place to rest after exploring the busy streets.
