Rodeway Inn Bronx Zoo

We have children, and this place wasn't appropriate for our family. Our management company put me and my family here while they did lead abatement in our apartment. We lasted only a few hours, though the stay was meant to be a week. The rooms were tiny, the walls were thin, and the whole place smelled like cigarettes despite being listed as non-smoking. The environment, inside and outside, wasn't pleasant. Parking was first come, first served, with only 8 spaces for about 20 to 25 rooms. I feel our building manager didn't care where they placed us. She wouldn't stay there with her own family, so why make me and mine stay there? They should renovate it into a suite hotel, thicken the walls, and add proper amenities such as a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, or kitchenette. Then they could charge more and it would be worth it.

The breakfast was a real plus, especially the coffee, tea, and juice options. We stayed one night in room 204, and the room itself was clean and nice, with a good bathroom and most things working. The front desk was kind and helped us sort out parking when a spot opened up. There are only about seven spaces out front, first come, first served. The hallway smelled strongly of cigarettes and urine, though it was fine once we were inside the room. A roach showed up on checkout morning, but I’m not too bothered by that sort of thing. I was disappointed that the bathroom hair dryer didn’t work. A more premium stay at this “Inn.”

The rooms were very clean, and the hotel looked just like its pictures. For a reasonable price, you get Wi-Fi, free breakfast, and a workout area. The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. I’ll definitely come back.

The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and I felt safe there. I did have to get the room door repaired before moving in. For sightseeing on a budget, though, it worked for me. There’s a continental breakfast if you’re hungry or traveling with kids, and Uber, buses, and the subway are nearby.
