Rostel- Hostel

The stairs were the one thing that kept this from being perfect. We were on the third level, and climbing when tired can be a pain since there's no elevator. Otherwise, the room was really nice, and we never saw anyone else on our floor, even though the restroom is shared with two other rooms. The kitchen was handy for warming leftovers. The person in charge was very nice, let us drop our bags before the 4pm check-in, then let us in early at 12:30pm. The location was perfect, easy to find, with subway access just around the corner. This is a Hostel, not a Hotel. I wasn't sure about booking after reading reviews, but I'd stay again if looking for an affordable place.

The room was filthy and the place stank. I had to throw away my luggage and a lot of clothes because the hotel was infested with bed bugs. You can't lock the room, so luggage doesn't feel secure, and the grocery man outside knew the numbers for the front door. The area didn't feel safe either. You have to climb two flights of stairs to get there, and the owner wasn't very nice. Worst accommodation of my life. Please don't go.

For what I paid for two nights, this was a steal compared with hotels. It's an apartment, not a hotel, and check-in is self-service. They emailed instructions, though you could also call the number. I was on the first floor and pretty much had the place to myself since the other two guests in the three-room apartment never showed up. I think there are more apartments on the second floor. The shared bathroom I expected to be a problem wasn't one. The only small drawback was the steep stairs. You get a key for the apartment and one for a closet where you can lock valuables while out; the room door only locks from the inside. I'd definitely stay again. I canceled and left without staying because I'd never come across a place that felt so frightening. Even though websites call it a three-star hotel, it absolutely isn't a hotel. It took a long time to ask people nearby and find the entrance, then I had to use self check-in via a creepy, scary staircase and a smelly hallway. My name wasn't on the door as it was supposed to be after reserving. I thought it seemed like a place for hookers and their customers. Highly not recommended. You'll regret it before you even see the room.
