Soho 54

My room had mold in several places, holes in the walls, worn-out carpet, and curtains and chairs that were torn and stained. The heater smelled faintly burnt, though at least it worked, unlike the one in a colleague’s room. My key card stopped working three times during my three-night stay. This was the roughest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I understand choosing it if you need a cheap place in NYC, but expect conditions that feel unacceptable for somewhere you’re paying to stay.

The location made it easy to explore SoHo and Tribeca, with great shopping, restaurants, and galleries nearby, plus subway access to the rest of the city. The rooms were modern and clean, with nice beds and a good shower, though small, as is common in Manhattan. Staff were friendly and helped with check-in and local tips. SoHo 54 Hotel isn’t flashy, but it was comfortable, quiet, and good value for the area. I’d stay again for a relaxed Manhattan trip.

The location was great, and the front desk staff were lovely, helpful, and delightful to deal with. The room was small but functional. It could have been cleaner, with more attention to surfaces and dusting, and there were lots of little issues around the room. The rooms felt dated and needed repairs and updates, the bathroom had black mold, and the wallpaper was starting to peel.

The staff were super friendly, and the rooms were nice and cozy, if a tiny bit dated. My friends and I stayed here for a bachelor party in the NYC area, and the location was convenient for getting to everything. We loved it and will definitely be back.
