Super 8 by Wyndham Long Island City LGA Hotel

I called to ask about hourly rates, and the front desk man was rude from the start. I only said I couldn't hear him clearly, and he got annoyed and hung up. When I called back to ask why, he hung up on me again. Completely unprofessional. I didn't get his name, but he sounded like he had an Indian accent. Don't book here, it's not worth your time or money.

The room had a comfortable bed, TV with internet, and parking, so it did what I needed. But the price didn't feel justified. I booked based on the online picture and the included breakfast option, expecting something continental; what they actually had was a packaged pastry, a granola bar, coffee or tea with milk, and orange juice. No cereal, though there were bowls. I went at 7 during the 6-9 breakfast window and saw no other food. If I'd known, I would've picked a cheaper hotel. The room had chipping paint, a stained lampshade, rusty metal in the bathroom, and a small, low toilet. Those were my only complaints. I was on the second floor, and the rooms aren't soundproof, so you may hear neighbors.

I paid $235 for one night and couldn't even use the linens or bring myself to eat their so-called light breakfast. The linen was brown and uncared for, and I spent the night awake killing about eight bedbugs that crawled out over two hours. Now I'm going home hoping I can keep them from spreading into my own space. My worst experience ever was room 214. When I complained in the morning, the woman at the desk was rude. She said she was South African and told me I had no right to complain to her because she was a woman. She wouldn't offer an apology or let me seek redress, and told me to call the police, leave a review, or do my worst. I don't know what they make in that breakfast space. This place felt more like a bedbug farm than even a motel.

The location is good if old rooms don't bother you, but our room was old and unclean. We arrived 40 minutes before check-in and only wanted to use a bathroom while waiting, not get our room early. The man at the desk said the room was ready but we'd have to pay $50 to get it early. We said we could wait and just needed the bathroom, but he still refused. He barely looked at us the whole time. It was a very unpleasant interaction with staff, and I rarely write reviews, but it has been bothering me.
