The Allen House

The housekeeping staff and other employees were extremely kind and courteous, but the management was terrible. Heating repairs were apparently underway right when we checked in, and we spent nearly a week and a half without heat. With the outdoor temperature falling into the low 30s, we froze every night and never got proper rest. Isn’t sleeping the main reason to pay for a hotel room? Absolutely pathetic.

We chose The Allen Hotel after finding it online and reading its strong reviews, and my friend and I were delighted with the stay. The rooms were clean, modern, well maintained, and had plenty of amenities. Everyone at the front desk was professional and helpful, and the price fit our budget. The neighborhood might feel a bit cutting edge to some, but it shows a part of the city many tourists may not see. Chinatown and Little Italy are nearby, and there’s a subway stop around the corner. I’ve been to NYC many times and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

The rooms were comfortable and high quality, though I’d give them 4 out of 5. Service and location were both standouts, each a full 5. Having such a dedicated staff right in the middle of everything made the visit memorable.

My wife first found The Allen Hotel two years ago, and we’ve stayed six times since. We’ve already booked two more visits this year. It’s convenient for transportation and close to great restaurants. The service is excellent, and the rooms are spacious compared with other NYC hotels. It’s a small boutique-style place where you’re treated like a guest, not a member of a big chain.
