The Boro Hotel

Staying in Long Island City gave us a quieter base, while the subway made it very convenient to explore Manhattan. Our room was spacious, which isn't always easy to find in New York, and the hotel was modern, clean, and comfortable. The front desk team stood out for being friendly, professional, and ready to help with questions or requests. We had a great experience at the Boro Hotel and would recommend it to anyone visiting New York.

I was surprised to hear from my driver that the hotel has been there about 10 years, because it's so well kept. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and my room was clean, beautiful, and pretty spacious. I especially loved the huge windows. I also tried the lobby food: the Beef Bolognese and Margherita Pizza from the restaurant downstairs were both great, and I'd recommend them. In the morning we went to the bakery, where the chocolate chip cookie was one of the best we've had.

Parking at the LAZ lot on 39th Avenue and 1st Street worked out pretty well. It's a 5-minute walk away and felt safe and secure for the guests who drove into the city. The morning coffee and evening wine were a real hit, and many guests enjoyed dining at Beebe's Restaurant at the Boro. Our daughter got married on January 18th, and our out-of-town guests stayed at the Boro Hotel for the weekend. Several weeks earlier, we booked a block of rooms with Michelle, the General Manager, and arranged a "bar takeover" welcome party with Nick. Everything ran flawlessly. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and guests were happy with their meals. The party brought together 50 people from the wedding party and out-of-town guests in the bar and adjoining space. Beebe's served hot appetizers, including mozzarella sticks, Pepperoni chips, and Wings, plus several kinds of pizza, and it was all amazing. Michelle's attention and dedication to details reflect the ethos of the Boro staff. We wouldn't change a thing and will return whenever we visit our daughter and son-in-law in NYC. Truly an exceptional experience.

I was unsure about staying here after seeing so many mixed reviews, but I would come back. Room 402 had a balcony, a comfortable bed, and a nice amount of space. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially David at the front desk. If you need a fridge, ask ahead or at the desk, sooner is better. There's no ice machine, but the front desk can give you a bucket of ice and cups. Depending on where you're headed, local subway access is about 8-15 min away. The one downside was that the walls are a bit thin, so neighbors and street traffic can sometimes be heard, though the traffic is out of the hotel's control.
