The rooms at The Fifth Avenue Hotel were spacious, beautiful, and comfortable, with thoughtful details that felt high-end. Getting around was easy thanks to the convenient location. What really stood out, though, was the welcome: the staff were polite from the start, and the doorman was kind and helpful whenever we came or went. The Portrait Bar team were friendly and attentive, and made the experience feel special without being stuffy. We’ll be back.

The Fifth is a beautiful property, but the people are what make it feel five-star. Everyone we met was warm and engaging without hovering. Angel from the butler team greeted us and made sure we had what we needed. Housekeeping responded quickly to a couple of requests, and Cheryl at The Portrait Bar and Rafael in Cafè Carmellini were both lovely to talk with and thoughtful in their service. I also had the pleasure of meeting Karys and Adam, who are both top-notch leaders.

I’d gladly stay here again. My room was stylish and quiet, almost perfect, with a beautiful view of the Empire State Building that was especially breathtaking in the evening. Complimentary drinks and the welcoming atmosphere throughout The Avenue Hotel added to the stay. The staff were consistently kind and attentive, and the service felt personal rather than routine. Before arriving, I emailed three times with questions about my booking and the concierge, but never got a reply. The concierge also couldn’t secure a reservation for a restaurant I’d first asked about almost two months earlier, even though my request was at short notice. The hotel bar is limited to guests with reservations after 5 p.m. I understand the policy, though it’s a little disappointing when you just want to drop in for a drink. Those issues aside, it was a 10/10 experience for me, with lovely rooms, excellent service, and a view I won’t forget.

Even in the middle of a snowstorm, our stay at The Fifth Avenue Hotel was fantastic. Angel, our butler, was attentive and genuinely kind. He even made my wife cry, in a good way. We’ve stayed at plenty of high-end city hotels, including Claridge’s, various Shangri-Las, and Park Hyatts, and this was one of our favorites. We appreciated the Amex upgrade to a corner room, the in-room iPad, and the martini ritual. The bathroom was compact but beautifully finished, with heated floors. The rooms were spotless, and the food and drinks were excellent. From hot chocolate when we arrived to drinks at the Portrait Bar, everything felt thoughtful. We also loved the design. The NoMad location worked well for business, especially since we spend a lot of time in the garment district, and it’s close to the subway. We’d absolutely return.

We felt genuinely cared for throughout our stay at The Fifth Avenue Hotel. The service was intuitive and thoughtful, from Michelle at the front desk, who welcomed us warmly, to Karys, who went above and beyond to arrange our stay, and Katie in guest services, who was consistently responsive. Thanks as well to Todd, the hotel manager. It’s clear he’s leading something special. The butler service was refined and helpful without intruding, and the included minibar made the room feel generous. The design is memorable: rich, bold, and layered, with real class. It has character in a way many minimal, neutral luxury hotels don’t, but never feels tacky or overdone. Every space seems intentional. The Portrait Bar has the kind of elegant, intimate atmosphere you hope to find in New York. Even the fresh, green, refined scent in the hotel stays with you as part of the memory. Beautiful hotels and great service don’t always come together at this level. This was one of our best hotel experiences, and it’ll absolutely be our place to stay in New York. We’ll recommend it to everyone we know.
