Red Hook is a great place to stay. From the hotel on Seabring St, you can walk to the waterfront, Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, the water taxi or ferry, Van Brunt eateries, and IKEA. It has an artsy, eclectic feel and lovely views, though getting to Manhattan by subway takes around 30-40 minutes. The staff were fantastic, from a welcoming check-in to useful neighborhood tips, and the breakfast crew kept things running well. The free hot buffet had a solid selection and fresh coffee. Rooms were clean and modern, with comfortable beds, a good size for NYC, a flat-screen TV, and quiet AC. It felt fresh and well kept. Great boutique value in a cool area. I’d stay again, four stars.

The room was right across from the canteen, and the noise was a lot. It was especially loud the next day, with lots of people around. I could hear everything outside because the walls were thin or there were gaps around the door, including my neighbor’s toddler crying. My room was in the basement, which felt weird, with feet or tires visible through the window. When I came back once, someone was smoking weed and the smell was strong. The self-service check-in still involved staff, which seemed pointless, though everyone I spoke to was polite and helpful. The place was clean and welcoming, breakfast had plenty of options and was fine, and the canteen was nice. I took breakfast to my room at 7:30 a.m. Someone knocked, then I heard people in the hall, apparently looking for someone, followed by another knock. I checked the peephole and saw nobody, and there was no housekeeping cart. I put up the DND tag, then found a note slipped under the door a few minutes later. Apparently someone had gone out of their way to find my room because they admired me. I was flattered, but also really uncomfortable that my space had been violated. I believe it was a worker. I didn’t feel comfortable getting breakfast the next day because I didn’t want another note. The TV remote was broken. I left, and by the time I returned the crying had stopped; staff got me a new remote. Check-out was easy, but I couldn’t get out fast enough and wouldn’t stay again. The location was good, and I could get everywhere quickly.

The rooms were very clean, and the buffet breakfast was good, with fruit, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, sausage, and the usual range of choices. I just wish there’d been an iron for my clothes and a microwave somewhere, even in the lobby, to heat leftovers. The staff were very nice and helpful, and the place felt safe overall. There’s parking on site and a convenience store around the corner with everything you need. The store owner is such a nice man, and there’s a small restaurant right next door. The area is quiet, with restaurants scattered around, and DoorDash delivers here. I’d stay again, especially if driving.

There wasn’t much to do nearby, and the area was pretty quiet, with few restaurants or entertainment options. The nearest subway station was about a 20-minute walk. At the hotel, there was only one slow elevator, and the room had a single chair with little room to work. Guests also couldn’t use the dining area during the day when it wasn’t in use. The room was bigger than average, and the bathroom was a good size, which made things more comfortable. The hotel was clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a good range of choices, better than what I’ve had at many other hotels.

We paid one hundred and twenty a night. There was lots of parking in the lot, though overnight parking costs $25. It felt very safe to walk around, and in the evenings we saw plenty of people out with strollers and kids. There are lots of places to eat and a bar next door. It’s one block from the cruise port, close enough to walk. Brunt Avenue is nearby too, with great pizza at Marks pizza.
