Herald Square was the real draw for us, with transport, restaurants, and shops close by. The rooms are compact, as you’d expect in the city, but our family fit comfortably and the location made the tradeoff worthwhile. This was my second stay at Nomad Studios in NYC, and I’d recommend it if you want to make the most of your time there. Our check-in ran a little late because of the guests before us. The property manager handled it professionally and understood our situation. Since our train to DC wasn’t until 9 PM, they gave us an extra checkout hour for free, and we paid for five more hours after that. We could also leave our bags at the front desk for a small fee, which let us keep exploring. Solid service and a lot of flexibility. I’d stay again.

I can only speak to when we stayed four years ago, but it was excellent then. The staff were really kind, everything was clean, and it was a quiet, pleasant place.

Eric Lee made a big difference to our stay. He was friendly every time we saw him, kept a positive attitude, and paid attention to the details while going out of his way to help. It was clear he takes pride in his work. We really appreciated the extra effort he put in to make things go well, and I’d highly recommend his service.

Our stay was awful, and the way Nomad Suites dealt with a possible bedbug problem made it even worse. We found a bug on the bed late Tuesday night and left it trapped in a mug. We contacted Nomad, who replied promptly, and we agreed the room would be treated the next day. We also emailed a company to confirm it was a bedbug. The bathroom smelled of mildew, and the coffee and kettle filters were mouldy, but those seemed like minor issues at first. On Wednesday morning I asked how to prepare the room before we left for the expensive event we were visiting New York for. Nomad said they’d call if we needed to do anything. After several hours without an answer about the technician’s arrival, we got an exterminator to quote for treating the room and our belongings. Nomad later said their technician would come after 4, even though our event started at 6. We asked for a call to clarify the treatment. Instead, an employee called us on her day off. She tried to help, but after being passed around, it felt like Nomad was trying to make us feel guilty and avoid responsibility. Two of us waited in the room because we wanted to be there while someone handled our things, but nobody came. We had to leave at the last minute to make the event. We asked for a refund for some days and for our room and belongings to be treated, since bedbugs spread easily and the whole situation was stressful. Nomad refused. They entered the room while all of us were away, even though they knew we’d be gone, then told us to check out that night. They said their technician found no evidence and accused us of bringing the bug ourselves. They also criticized us for leaving our belongings out, although we had twice asked what we should do to prepare the room. They then tried to guilt us by saying they’d had to throw out expensive bed frames. We contacted the booking company because Nomad blamed us and entered the room while we were out, which was against policy. The company cancelled the reservation and offered to cover part of our hotel stay. Nomad said they’d pack our things and leave them at reception, which is locked after hours. We said we’d collect everything and leave straight after the event, but asked them not to touch our belongings. When we got back, the room had been treated with pesticide. Nomad had packed our things together with theirs, so we had to sort through the bags in a room that reeked of pesticide. I checked the mattresses and duvets with the covers off and found bedbug eggs and many stains, including spots of blood that can be a sign of bedbugs. After investigating, the booking company refunded us because Nomad wasn’t allowed to enter a guest’s room while they were away. Bedbugs are a serious problem for any room rental company, but accusing us of bringing them and trying to guilt us instead of communicating honestly made this stay infuriating. None of us would stay here again.

The shower was the one decent part of the room. Otherwise, it felt like somewhere out of a horror movie. I left covered in little red bites from what I believe were bedbugs in the sheets, and had to rush to a clothing shop for fresh clothes so I wouldn’t carry anything with me. It’s an apartment building posing as a hotel, with staff who seemed inattentive. I wouldn’t stay here.
