The location and price were the only real positives for me. If you just need a cheap place in a good area, it could work, provided you can put up with the problems I had. The room hadn’t been cleaned properly. The toilet was dirty, parts of the walls looked unfinished and not fully renovated, and the patio was difficult to walk across with trash scattered around. The building seemed poorly maintained, and the walls were so thin that loud partying around 5:00 AM sounded almost as if it was inside our room. We couldn’t get any rest. The shower pressure was nearly nonexistent, too. There’s also a security concern if you leave bags before check-in: suitcases are kept in a public stairwell. Early check-in costs $20 per hour, which felt excessive considering the condition of the hotel. I’d suggest reading the reviews carefully before booking. Some of the five-star ones seem fake, and it becomes pretty obvious when you look closely. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had.

The room was cozy and super clean, and it even had a kitchenette and balcony. The front desk staff were friendly, and there’s a vending machine in the lobby. Subway stations and bus stops are close by, Westfield mall is within walking distance, and there’s a 7-Eleven about 100 feet away. For rates similar to hotels on the edge of Queens, this place is right in the heart of the downtown financial district. I was looking for a relatively cheap but decent hotel, and it turned out better than I expected. Great value, and I’d recommend it.

Room 35 was the cheapest option I found and brilliant value. The bathroom was spacious and smelled properly clean. There was a desk, a comfy bed, and a little kitchen of my own with a fridge and microwave. Wi-Fi was fast, and the front desk was really friendly. Bravo.

After a long day of travel, finding that the hot water in the shower didn’t work was awful. The room they moved me to was just as poorly kept: sticky floors and dusty surfaces. Its AC and heating unit rattled and popped at random through the night, jolting me awake. When I mentioned all this at checkout, staff said I should have asked for help sooner, even though this was already my second room. The first room was attached to a balcony I hadn’t requested and also connected to other rooms. There were huge gaps around the balcony door, letting cold air blow in. It was January in New York, so the room was cold. They did move me when I asked, but the replacement wasn’t any better. I’ve never posted a Google review before, but my stay at Tribeca Hotel FiDi was bad enough to warrant one. Hot showers, clean rooms, and working AC and heating are basic hotel amenities. They don’t need to be fancy, but they should work, and they didn’t here. I’d recommend staying at the Courtyard Marriott next door.

We had a patio room, which was a kind gesture from the young woman who checked my daughter and me in after I explained my anxiety concerns. She couldn’t have been nicer. The room was spacious, with two desks, a mini fridge, microwave, hair blower, and steamer. The shower had plenty of room, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap, and the towels were soft. The pillows were the most comfortable I’ve ever had, though I wish I’d checked the brand. The shared patio was lovely, and I had it to myself when I wanted to relax. The hotel is conveniently near subways, in a safe neighborhood, with a 24/7 market right next door. You need a keycard to enter from outside, which helped us feel safe. They also stored our luggage securely in the basement for hours before check-in and after checkout, free of charge.
