W New York - Union Square

We enjoyed the hotel's bar, which had a great atmosphere and excellent service. The resort fee also came with an F&B credit, which was nice. For our anniversary weekend at The W, the staff went out of their way to make things memorable. Our gold membership got us a room upgrade, a fantastic surprise, and the champagne delivered to our room was a lovely touch. We couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate.

Steven turned things around for us the next day with exceptional service, and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the hydromassage after starting out skeptical. The room was beautifully decorated, with a lovely 20th-floor view, though the one small window limited how much we could enjoy it. The gym is spacious and well equipped, and I especially liked the Peloton room. Service was mixed at first. The check-in receptionist was warm and welcoming, but another person at the front desk later came across much more stern. Breakfast on the first morning was disappointing: we waited a long time to be seated, the waiter confirmed our order twice and still got it wrong, and the tea we requested twice never arrived. Despite those inconsistencies, it turned into a great stay.

The rooms have been comfortable, spacious, luxurious, and clean on both occasions I've stayed at the W Hotel in Union Square. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, with the doormen especially going out of their way to make you feel looked after. Although it's rated four stars, the experience feels five-star in many ways. I've had two fantastic visits and would absolutely return. Highly recommend!

I love the location, and I have great memories of the downstairs bar and restaurant from when it was Olives. But at $800 a night, being charged for internet feels like part of a lot of chiseling. Disappointing, especially since the service has fallen off too.
