West Village Eurohostel

The cabin and twin cabin look the same in the photos as when I last stayed. And now they're asking $239 a night, when I never paid more than $110, no matter which night of the week it was. Getting rid of my very positive previous reviews just because the owners changed is ridiculous.

Rooms are tiny, like ship cabins, but super cute and cozy, with a comfy bed and pillows. The shared bathroom still feels private and has a blow-dryer. It's an affordable hostel with a chic, comfortable feel. The residential neighborhood is lovely, with coffee shops nearby, and there's a cute lobby full of great books. Staff were polite and friendly. I really enjoyed staying here.

This was my third stay, and I know what I like after 40+ years of traveling professionally. The staff, “above and below decks,” know how to make people feel welcome, with that kind of handshake you expect from real New Yorkers. Staying in the Village brings back memories of when it was my neighborhood, and of a city I adore. The venue gives me a welcoming atmosphere, nostalgia, and a great place to stay. Bravo to the new proprietors for continuing the renovations while keeping the tight ship this landmark has always been known for! ~CL New Harmony, Indiana

The hotel smelled bad from the hallways all the way into the rooms. I called the front desk to ask for air freshener, but housekeeping had already left for the day. They admitted there was an odor and blamed long-term tenants. That's not acceptable, and air freshener is cheap. It came across as a lack of care for cleanliness. Don't book here.
